He can box...in the sense a guy with a record of 15-8 can box. That is not good viewing, and if I was Silva and I had the ability to delete one video from Youtube, it'd probably be this one.

anderson silva moves well and has some pretty good striking skills prehaps he even improved his skills since that match but I doubt he improved very much.anderson silva is simply not a good boxer. even against a obviously shot jones anderson loses and bad.

he doesnt look that bad here but not to good either. his best skill is movement, turning his opponent and attacking at angles. It is also interesting that in boxing anderson silva attacks the body a bit. How many body punches does he throw in MMA? I would say very little if any.

I tip my hat to Silva. The man has ambition and sets high standards for himself, let's just not have any misconceptions. Silva is not a good Boxer.

Seen this vid before. From a boxing perspective he's very sloppy. He's head movement is non existent and his foot work is messy. Every time he throws a punch there "slappy" punches with the glove not closed and they come from too far away. RJJ would have no problem whatsoever countering slow telegraphed shots like that. What Anderson does works fine in MMA but as for boxing he wouldnt even make a decent journeyman.

 

I just don't understand the point of saying that Silva isn't a good boxer. No kidding, he isn't a boxer. I don't run around saying that James Toney isn't a good wrestler. He isn't a wrestler. Maybe I'm missing something?

 

Because Silva has made it KNOWN quite categorically and to Dana White for some years now that he wanted a match with Roy Jones. Also he's had a few boxing matches and shown a keen interest in the sport.

 

That was in response to much disrespect towards MMA fighting by boxers. So he's willing to take on a challenge, way out of his league. I still don't understand why people are so busy remarking on the obvious.

 

And not to mention someone has actually went too the effort of posting one of his fights captioned with, "he can box". :verysad He can box like a low level journeyman can box.

 

I guess I should be spending more time criticizing the non-existent wrestling skills of Toney then because he seemed to think that he had it all figured out.
