You guys are writing off Toney. Much like I expect Antonio Tarver wrote off B-Hop as a 40-yr-old coming off 2 defeats and jumping 2 weight divisions. You do not write off guys like Hopkins and Toney, they still have the skills. I think Haye would win, but Toney would never be an easy night for anyone. Too tough, too smart.
Yeah but BHop has never looked past his best and has always been in shape, Toney looked awful against Rahman 1, Sam Peter 2 and Baltacher.
I agree on your first point. Toney is looking at getting another title (from the big 3) shot ASAP. I don't see what good fighting Haye would do for getting another title shot. Haye just lot to a 42 yr old in 5 rounds. But if the fight does happen in the near future, I'd be interested in looking over all bets, including yours :hey
He just lost? Dude that was 4 years ago. He has had 11 fights since then and won a world title, Bhop lost his first fight does that mean hes ****? Toneys last 5 fights 2-2-1 oh my hes really blasting them out of there.
I'm not saying they are the same guy, just that both have the skills. Toney has to have weight on him to be strong enough to grapple with heavyweights, he doesn't have the height to carry that weight all in muscle. And he doesn't have to be in Hopkins-style peak fitness to compete, he was pretty fat in Peter I yet was still excellent. Toney may have looked awful in those fights you mentioned, but he was never in danger of being stopped in any of them. Like B-Hop, he never gets caught clean, his defence is too good. And I think v Haye, if the fight was going Haye's way, it is just in Haye's nature to get cocky. Against a counterpuncher like Toney, that could be a fatal error. If the guy is strong enough to withstand Haye's early attacks, he could come back and win on points.
