You're right that wasn't very recently. It's just that getting KTFO by a 40 yr old in 5 rounds is significant and it's the only recent event (that is significant) I can conjure up of Haye.
Toney's next fight will probably be another eliminator...so no, he shouldn't miss that to fight the new guy in the division. Now if Haye would have stayed on schedule and fought in Oct like he said he would, his next fight could have possibly been against Toney. But James shouldn't sit and wait for this guy to work himself into contention, nor should he risk his standing against someone who has done nothing but entertain us with his mouth, in the division. So Haye has already talked **** and his coming is delayed...if he really fights a top ten guy in November like he's now saying, it may be worth the wait. JT is a top ten HW btw. Since Haye just picked up the WBO Cruiser belt, I wonder if there is a provision within their rules for a champion in a lower division to step up to an immediate HW championship or eliminator match. This could prove the quickest route to KLIT. With Toney holding the WBO NABO title, it may add the needed dynamic to make the whole thing happen.
Haye said his contract only allows him to fight a top ten ranked fighter and sounded like jt was his next fight in november.
I'm a big fan of Toney, but sadly at 40 he's gone. Haye would just be too quick. Having said that I would,t totally discount toney though.
people are going to expect haye to be more powerful, better stamina and quicker, but what they are going to find out is that he lacks experience against elite world level fighters like james toney and that he does not know how to swim in deep water
As long as it's not Cooney vs. Norton this could be a great fight and if it goes to the late rounds I wouldn't be surprised if Toney stops Haye
:rofl Haye has a **** defense. Toney is a defensive mastermind. Toney has all dimensions, Haye only one. Haye comes in, Toney counters him and has him doing the chicken dance. It'll be a bit like the Toney Holyfield fight.
Toneys best days are being him.Hes an arrogant fat c**t aswell, everyone says Haye is cocky but hes quite a lot younger more natural at this weight division and faster.Haye wins this one definately.
Toneys last 5 fights have been a joke comapred to Hayes last 5, time to stop living in the past and look at the future.
