Toney looked damn good against Holyfield, but that's because by then the Real Deal s wheels were coming off. I give this fight to Povetkin by decision.
I like Toney by decision or late stoppage as well. He has the skills and he would cope well with Povetkin’s style
Let's take a look at some of the fight in question: This content is protected Right away you can see that this is nowhere near a top version of Holyfield. He's working at a slow pace, he's flatfooted, his handspeed is gone and he's doing that old Holy foible, loading up on his punches. Toney looks fairly good against him, because his style is suited to avoiding the shots of a slower, older big puncher with looping punches. Povetkin fought a good defensive fighter in Chris Byrd in his 13th fight. This is how he handled him: This content is protected Notice right away how much faster these two appear when compared to Holy and Toney. They not only throw faster but slip better than the two veterans. Byrd's handspeed is way faster than Toney's and Povetkin still manages to slip. Povetkin deals with Byrd's trickiness by sucking up his space, crowding him and letting loose with fast combinations to head and body. These guys are both much much more active than the other plodders. Povetkin would beat Toney through sheer activity.
BCS8, I would be pleased if you just stayed out of my thread. I am not interested in debating with you and neither should any other poster. You have a habit of picking Klitschko or hyping his former opponents in every thread, it is embarrassing to say the least. Otherwise, am I missing something? Looking at Povetkin's record, he never beat anybody as good as the Toney (Holyfield version). Byrd was clearly shot at the time. It is hard to see a case for a Povetking domination, I am not sure what this forum has become lately.
Yet here I am. Excellent. Crawl back under your rock. You have a habit of slurping James Toney's nutsack and it's gone on for quite a while now. Yes. You missed looking at the footage. Povetkin IS better than Toney. Byrd was clearly not shot. He was not his best, agreed, but the footage shows he still had blazing fast combinations and head movement. Hard for you, that is.
