Running out of lines? This aint an Oscar DeLaHoya thread and I'm not even a DLH fan. The only reason you think I am is because I had him winning the Trinidad fight. Ask me about Oscar vs Sturm fight :good

Last time Toney schooled someone was 5 years ago. Since then he was caught with a fake diploma and lost his professor degree and became a student of Samuel Peter who despite being regarded as a crude brawler took Toney to school over 12 rounds even danced like Ali in the 12th full of energy.

James Toney clearly knows something about boxing "Klitschko you're a bum and your sister Vitalia"

Toney outboxed Peter the first time. The second time Peter won, that was a bad performance by Toney.

You obvously believe that JT has not the style to beat Valuev.

I have watched a lot of of Valuev's fights and think he is vastly overrated and that he would have a hard time with somebody who moves his head well.

As you said Toney will probably have some trouble with the long reach of the giant. It all depends on what JT has left. He must fight a live coontender like Thompson in his next fight.

I would have him the dog against all the Champs. Wlad would probably be the first to stop him but then again he might still go the distance. if Holyfield wins a rematch against Valuev I would like to see a Toney-Holyfield rematch.

    Maybe.

But Oquendo and Thompson are two completely different styles.

He was eating Oquendos jab like it was french fries.

Do you seriously see him getting by Wladimirs? :think

Agreed, Toney must come in better shape for Thompson to beat him.
However, based on recent news this matchup won't provably happened.

I do not understand why Goossen did not make the fight. It is very depressing.

Oh i do believe that Toney has the style to beat him but nowadays he seems to be unable to execute it. It's not just his weight, his reflexes seem to have diminished too. He still moves his head well but he is so lethargic in the ring and that he'd have a hard time closing the distance.
A few years ago he'd easily rescued us from Valuev but now I'm not so sure about that anymore. As a fan i hope he will prove me wrong but he seems to be in a downward spiral and his last fight was absolutely embarassing.

Toney did evade those jabs pretty good in first half of the fight.

Part off the reason why those jabs was hitting Toney, was because Oquendo was just tapping with jab, using no real power in those punches. He connected more jabs because of that but they didn’t do any damage.

If Toney would come 230lbs against Wladimir like he did against Oquendo, I don’t see him getting past that jab after couple of rounds, because he would slow down after that.
If Toney would come in 220lbs it could be much more interesting fight.
