I don't think it's a simple weight issue any more. Also, do you honestly see Toney at this stage getting back into the shape he was in against Holyfield??

James Toney was out boxed by Sam Peter. Think about that for a second. Peter who has zero skill took James to school. James Toney is finished he has struggled with class C fighters in recent fights.

 

Well, there are only the kitschkos.

The heavyweight division is very weak, nobody has good skills. So, Toney can still hang in there with the best.

 

I am a wlad fan...i don't hate anyone but to say toney even has a remote chance at winning after he was embarrassing in his last fight against a guy less than what wlad usually gets **** on for destroying.....come on mow...toney is done..I like the guy but he is done...he can say whatever he wants but u have to beat fast fres first

Ok, that is fair enough, we shall see then. Toney has proven people wrong in the past(McCallum, Nunn, Jirov, Holyfield so it is not out of the question. The Rahman II fight and the first half of the Oquendo fight still give reason to hope.

 

I agree that Toney won't beat Waldo.

But peopple overrate that Oquendo fight. Toney has struggled against lesser opponents in the past when unmotivated. (e.g McGroom, Thadzi)

Toney will get brutally slaughtered by either Klitshcko, it will be sad to see. Toney knows it too. When Povetkin pulled out and Wladimir was looking for an opponent you did not hear a peep from Toney who had no fight scheduled. Soon after Rahman signed, then Toney-Thompson was announced. But if Toney really wanted a piece of Wladimir like he pretends, he would have been calling out Wladimir to step in for Povetkin, loud and clear.

Toney is a smart man and knows for a certainty has has absolutely zero chance to challenge Wladimir in any way. Total brutal vivious sad mismatch if it ever happens, of Toney decides he needs one last payday.

 

This guy just never shuts up. The guy can't even beat Fres Oquendo, but keeps talking trash. What an over aged punk.
