Yes he's motivated because he knows that he can handily beat 1/2 of the UFC's HWs with his boxing ability alone. He IS NOW what everyone wants Kimbo to be , but isn't. Imagine if he just added a little takedown defense...:scaredas:
If Toney was indeed serious he would be fighting at Light Heavy at most... He used to fight in the low to mid 70kgs in his prime for godsake..
I have heard all this rubbish before from toney in the last 5 years and he has never come in below 230
I hope he hasn't been shown a double underhook and a sprawl and thinks thats it. This guy needs to be training in grappling everyday but he also needs to be adapting his boxing to suit MMA. Adapting his boxing should be easy. Wearing MMA gloves should be a dream for him. The grappling he should work hard and also he needs to lose weight so he can use his feet more. You need to maintain the right distance in MMA or you will get taken down or kicked. In boxing, he can fight in the pocket if someone smothers his distance. I'm not sure if Toney could fight in the clinch in MMA. He is an unknown quantity who is talented but won't do well without dedication. He should fight at 205.
Toney is very motivated and is a very skilled boxer. It's a pity he is a fish out of water and is going to get utterly humiliated. A real pity.
I'm pretty sure based on your post that you've never tried to use orthodox boxing against a kickboxer or mma style with takedowns, but now I'm starting to wonder if you've ever seen an mma fight.
Heard it before. If he couldn't get motivated for 10 times more money a couple of years ago he can't know. I'd rather see Sam Peter fight MMA, he actually has more transferable skills.
