Toneys first title defence against Reggie Johnson very close fight i had Toney nicking it by a point.
Toney has an iron jaw and has taken the best punches from hard hitting heavys like Peter and Rahman so how come Johnson not noted as a power puncher in his weight class hurt him so bad?
Johnson hit him with a good shot and caught him flush on the chin, it was a legit KD. Toney got up quite fast tho, of course he was hurt but I don't think it was that bad, it wasn't like he was about to get knocked out. Well Toney is a natural SMW/LHW and not a MW, maybe he was weight-drained, and he fought Nunn some weeks before that, maybe he was also a bit off-balance, whatever, he got caught by a good fighter, went down but got up again, no shame there. Only legit KD in his career, the KDs against Peter and Jones were because of him being off-balance and being half pushed, half punched... Toney got a worl-class chin, no question there. Anyways, good fight by Johnson, he started well, big 2nd round, but as the fight progressed Toney caught up to edge out a close decision.
Funny that peter's kd of oney looke almost identical to Johnson's. I'd call it a legit kd. Jones pushed him over though, no way that should have been counted.
