Toney needs a decent trainer who will work wih him on conditioning and technique. Then he has a chance against Charr. Toney does not do it it because of the additional costs.
I dont think a trainer can really do anything to improve technique at 45 maybe a conditioning coach could improve fitness levels ?
Jeez, I can't believe these guys as old as they are , wanna keep fighting, same with Hopkins, and who's really gonna pay 2 over the hill guys play pitty pat, in an advanced sparring session, lol.. BTW, Roy on points..
Looking from Roy's perspective, why would he have ever chased down a rematch? Why didn't James call for a rematch in 94, instead of keeping quiet and then trying to kill Jackie Kallen? This seems bizarre. The scheduled fight is in 10 days, and nothing's official, no press conference etc. Have both guys had a camp? Any sort of a camp? Roy was supposed to be fighting Gunn, then the date was changed twice, and then he was supposed to be fighting Zine Eddine Benmakhlouf. I can't keep up.
Decent mitt work would improve the accuracy of his punches . His punches would be sharper. His fitness level would also be better under the supervision of a good trainer.
Why not? still better than fighting the Telescos and Richard Halls Both were scheduled to fight in December. Expect a press release for tomorrow if the fight will happen
Wait, so Toney is going to be instead of Benmakhlouf, not after? ...still in Russia on the Chudinov vs. Novoa card? :huh
do not know if the fight will happen now...JT has agreed to everything like always...Jones seems to get cold feets like always
I actually like this. Make the old vets fight each other if they insist on fighting. Rather see this than either of the two fight some young powerful prospect.
Blade, you seem to have some inside knowledge here - what's the lastest news from camp Toney? Is this fight gonna happen or will Roy p*ssy out again??
Roy easily beat James, when he was 26 years old and undefeated. James had the opportunity after the fight, to say he wanted a rematch if Roy moved up to 175 etc. But he said nothing. He then tried to kill Jackie Kallen, saying that she'd made him fight while sick. But her versions of events are very different. She says he was full of beans (not literally I don't think) and he thought he was going to win. So what's all of this talk of Roy having cold feet and *****ing out etc? Roy never needed to chase the rematch. Let's not pretend that James was desperate for it when it really mattered.
do not know-in an interview of yesterday on a known website Jones does not even mention Toney-talks about fighting the french bum
