    Hopkins fought Calzaghe
    Jones is fighting Calzaghe soon
Toney was never close to Joe's weight class when Joe was ready for it to happen

I'm a Calzaghe fan as I am a huge fan of Jones and Hopkins and this thread just makes you look like an idiot.

Ok, I'll be more specific... who was the best fighter to have ducked Joe in their prime, before they decided to have a pay day...

Jones never ducked Joe, if I remember it was Jones who called out Joe. Calzaghe demanded more money, fight in Wales and asked Jones to wait because of his hand injury.

The Hopkins case was discussed and money was the issue there as well.

Was James Toney ever called out by Calzaghe?, if so please mention. Last I remember Toney was already a light heavy/cruiser when Joe was rising.

Joe always stated he called Jones out for years, but Jones didn't want to know, instead went around trying to be a champ in ever division against hand picked fighters, when he had a great fighter in his own division to take care of.

Hopkins agreed to fight Joe, and the next day pulled out and doubled his money demands.

Joe has constantly made fun of Toney, almost begging him to lose weight and he would step up to fight him, below is the quickest remark I could find:

"Toney fancied Lacy's chances so I would love to see how he would get on with me," said Calzaghe, 33.
"He should lose the flab and fight me. But I don't think anyone can drag him out of his training camp at McDonalds."
"I would love to kick his behind now because I just missed out on doing it in the '90s when I was coming through," added Calzaghe.

I think you're making a mistake replying seriously to what is clearly a joke thread but, seriously, when did any of the above happen?

The issue with Hopkins was that the fight was agreed, in the US, a sum of money was agreed, then Hopkins came back the next day demanding twice as much money.

Of course he was. Like, I said, clearly a troll thread. I take it this is a reference to the large number of times American posters have included Toney on a list of fighters Calzaghe supposedly ducked.

He makes it clear right there that it was just impossible because he was only "coming through" when Toney was in his weight class. Why didn't Joe move up if he wanted it bad?

The claims about Jones is bull**** coming out of your pocket pal, Jones did try to make this fight happen when both were at super middleweight. Jones was the star at the time, champion and the big name, he deserved more money. Joe wanted it in Wales, more money that he was offered and also wanted Jones to wait as he got a hand injury, that hand injury was the last point and Jones wasn't going to wait, he moved up and dominated yet another division. If you think Jones handpicked opponents at light heavyweight then you probably think Calzaghe had elite competition in his defenses at Super middleweight?, compare Jones' Light heavyweight resume only with Calzaghe's super middleweight and tell me if it's handpicking please.

Hopkins' case seems to be the only true one there, Hopkins did demand more money and they believed it was far more than he deserved which is acceptable but to consider he "ducked" him?, I don't think so. The man fought him when he was 42 in the end, doesn't look like someone who would duck competition.

In the end none ducked each other in my opinion, you're just trying desperately to make a point but in a very poor way which is obviously on purpose. The situations weren't good enough for any and if anything it's all against Joe back then since he was the one who never seeked the recognition and didn't push hard for it.

Jones recently said Calzaghe was the one person he avoided due to his power and handspeed back then, he says he doesnt feel the same threat now due to joe brittle hands.

Toney purposely ate his way out of Joes weight classes just so he never had to face him, he had no intention of fighting at a higher weight until he saw a video of Calzaghe.
