It has been reported that James Toney returned to the gym immediately after knocking our Greek and that he continues to train there on a daily basis. There is no doubt James Toney is serious once again. Will it be enough for another decent run?It is possible.

I think Klitschkos would knock Toney's cigar down his throat.

A few years ago then I'd agree with him. Now, Toney is shot to **** and I wouldn't see him lasting past 9 rounds with Waldo.

    Another ******ed quote from Toney.

Klitschko probably makes more money in a single fight then Toney made in his last 10 fights.

The sentence really should read. "The only way for Toney to get paid is by fighting the Klitschkos."

Klitschko made more money fighting Tiger Thompson (12M $) than James Toney in his whole career.

A decent run? At best. Enough to even be able win a round against either Klitschko? Not in a million years. They eat defensive counter punchers without big power, especially when they are a foot shorter.

Hasnt Toney been offered a fight with either Vitali or Wlad?
He didnt take it as far as I remember..
    It would be a mismatch.....

Exactly. The Klitschkos make the best money in the HW division, the top dogs don't need someone out of the top 10 to make money.

Tonay has never faced the big punchers for a reason. He doesn't have the style to get inside a big man with excellent control of range.

Did he ever officially contact them when they're free and not booked for a fight?

When Wlad was looking for a replacement for Povetkin at the end of 2008, Toneys promoter Goossen contacted him to inform him that Toney was ready to step in. But Wlad chose to face Hasim Rahman instead.

The situation was the same this summer, after the Klitschko-Haye fight fell apart, Toney even teamed up with Dan Goossen again (they split ways shortly before that) in order to step in on short notice - as things went, Chagaev-Valuev fell also apart and Klitschko faced Chagaev.

TO TELL THE TRUTH, Toney is not in a position to challenge the Klitschkos right now. He has to prove he has something left first. Stay active and beat a couple decent HWs, better ones than this Greer guy (like Oleg Makskaev or Quezada), and look good doing so. Then he deserves a shot at a title. I would like to see that. But that said, guys like Kevin Johnson don't deserve a title-shot either, Vitali could as well fight Toney then and I guess it would generate A LOT more interest than Vitali-Kevin Johnson.

HOWEVER, Toney is right in that him fighting a Klitschko would be a big $$ fight, and would generate more interest than a lot of the last Klitschko fights did. Oh yes. Because Toney is one out of a few recognizable HWs in the division, at least in the US, he's an ATG legend and he has a big name (plus a big mouth to hype the fight).

AND ADMIT IT, every single one of you would watch this fight, even the ones claiming such a fight to be pointless, either because you love the man (Toney) and hope that he has one last great fight in him, or because you hate him and want to see him get stopped.

Toney isn't right. Toney maybe an all time great legend but right now he's a shot old fighter that doesn't bring anything to the table. You saying it be a big $$ fight? lol no it isn't. Look at Toney last fight, if he brings the big money fights then why his last fight wasn't shown on network tv?

    :rofl

They're getting paid millions of dollars for every fight, I don't think the pay day would be any different with Toney.

Chagaev was undefeated and apart of the wba heavyweight champion in which Toney doesn't bring anything to the table.
