McClellan really looking to make a fight out of it while Tony keeps his composure and gives as good as he gets just not as flashy
If the date at the bottom of the video is correct, the sessions took place at a time when James Toney was 19-0 and a full yr from knocking out Michael Nunn to become IBF MW champion. McClellan was 14-2, and would fight a scheduled 8 rounder at light heavy about a wk after this date. Point being that both guys were still very young and were yet to make their names.
Notice how neither fight from a high guard. I literally wouldn't cross the street to watch them spar.
Wow, I had no idea McClellan ever fought at light heavyweight. Probably would have prolonged his career if he stayed at that weight and never drained himself. There’s some off camp pics of him on Twitter and he looks like a full blown cruiser.
Toney took Gerald to school in sparring just as he would have taken him to school under the bright lights.
