Peter I was a very bad decision regardless if he blew the rematch or not. I thought that was his best performance since his debut against holyfield.

I definitely thought Toney won Peter 1. That was close to robbery IMO. For their second fight, Toney had way too much excess to be effective. I mean the guy got KD with a jab because he was so off balanced.

The Rahman reversal to NC is something i agree with. If you go by the rules, that's the correct decision.

Go play with a Ruiz fan.

My position on Toney-Rahman II is the consensus opinion...as was proved on these boards following the bout.

Technically he did not win those fights, but they all showed that he was competitive against the best heavyweights (except for Klitschko). I think that is quite an accomplishment for a boxer who started his career at 157.

Do you see Hopkins, Pavlik Jermain Taylor fighting Rahman, Holyfield, Peter...?Toney was on juice for the Ruiz but he was also out of shape. An inshape Toney without juice would have done better.

Ditto everything the man said. The only thing I would add is that Toney in the Ruiz fight said he was given roids for a biceps tear, not an achille tear

james toney is a huge waste of talent
look at the times at cruiser and when he started at heavy he was at a natural weight steroids or not who cares
this was his most natural weight around 210 - 220 his early days where he played highschool football
one huge problem he never stayed focused
his natural ability brought him to where he is now
    imagine if he woulda tried

i saw danny batchelder being competitive with toney at heavyweight and batchelder was a super middleweight.

i saw everett big foot martin fight a who`s who of heavy`s and he was a supermiddle starting out .

as for steroids , should carl lewis have won the 88 olympics or should the juiced ben johnson who showed lewis his backside by binoculars he was so far ahead be declared the olympic champ

Batchelder was competitive only once against an unmotivated Toney. Big Foot Martin was somehow competitive but did never win enough rounds against a good heavyweight to warrant a victory.

Toney was not only competitive against elite heavyweights, arguments could be made that he actually won those fights. He actually also had some official results (W Guinn, draw Rahman, TKO Holyfield). He started as a middleweight and arguably beat the second best heavy in the world. Do you see Pavlik, Taylor, Hopkins doing that?

WBC Still ranked Toney ahead of Rahman what shows what they thinked Rahmans quit job.
Actualy they kicked Rahman out of top-15 what was good decission.

Toney fought 80 pro fights, most of them against quality opposition, many big punchers, and he's never been knocked out or even been on the verge of being knocked out. And you tell us that Sanders would knock him out in the first round?? Is this a joke or what, this claim is so ridiculous that I shouldn't even be responding to it... have you even ever seen a single fight with James Toney?

But you're right, given that Toneys prime was at MW/SMW and Sanders is a big HW, prime for prime Sanders might flatten Toney. Most decent HWs would KO MW and SMWs, but it's just nonsense to make such comparisons. Likewise, you could also say prime for prime Lennox Lewis would KO Manny Pacquiao...

And btw I actually like Corrie Sanders and think he was always underrated.

'Peter winning a wide UD in the first fight'

this leads to one of the following conclusions:

    a) you saw the fight on hallucinogens

    b) it is you who is biased / a hater

    c) you know nothing about boxing

    d) you actually meant the second Peter-Toney fight

Toney clearly won that first fight against Peter, it was plain for everybody to see...
