Toney counter punching was amazing and if he was tagging nunn with the right joe was easyer to hit

I usually agree with Scar on this one, but theres a remote possibility this might have been greenlit. Consider Toney recently made 199lbs so its not incredulous that he could have been motivated to slim down to fight Zaghes at LH.

And the biggest factor of all is that Zaghes would be able to fight Toney when Toney was turning 40something when Cal was 35/36 and since this was Zaghes peak, he had a fair chance of outgassing the now 50% Toney. I believe Calzaghe would have tried to chicken out as he usually does, but if egged on by his dad he may well have gotten the guts together to face Toney in the ring and maybe pull off what would have been the best of his career defining fortysomething opponent wins by SD..Toney floors Zaghes 2-3 times early on but then gasses and is unable to keep up after round 6...losing all rounds due to Zaghes throwing/missing loads.

Even more so with Nunn assuming he'd stayed clean, and most pertinently is nearly 10 years Cal's senior, so Cal could have fought him when he was pretty prime at 35 whereas Nunn would be shot2**** at 45. Cal would love to sign for that kind of whitewash, but in the event I suspect he would be pushed hard by Nunn to a SD, and only winning with his youthful workrate.

If Toney had been a few years older then 35 year old Zaghes would have relished going up to cruiser to fight him and scrape a SD over a 45 year old Toney, he loves doing that to grandads.

If you think about it, these two aged opponents are exactly what the cowardly Zaghes loved to eat up as his career defining fights, and it gives him a good excuse to keep ignoring Dawson and the better young fighters that would have KOed him.

Joe Cal wins all hypothetical fights.

Bailey's research has proven that only two things matter:
    1. How highly the fighter was ranked by the WBO either before, during, or after the alleged fight.
    2. How many wins the fighter has over 168 pound fighters who went on to win a 168 pound championship either before or after the fight.

Actual skills and power have no relevance when it comes to Joe Cal.

prime for prime, of course Toney hasthe edge on Cal, and Nunn would knock him the fcuk out.
But in realtime terms, Joe loved outgassing shot2**** fortysomething legends and I have no doubt that had they been made available from their considerable constraints, Joe would jump at the chance to beat up some more grandads though he'd get outskilled for as long as these guys could still fight (first half of the fight).

it looks like i've stumbled across a calzaghe hating thread full of thicko's...

calzaghe would knock nunn out. he'd beat the overrated toney by clear UD.

**** off back to praising that cheating disease andre ward. it was great yet again from the jokeland cheat when he beat weight drained zombie, dawson. hahaha, amazing.

that dawson that calzaghe ran from, mm. like, wow. well I dont actually like ward, he has a wierd sloppy face which irritates me. I like Joe better, but that doesnt stop me being realistic. I dont just give credit for good looks, thats stupid.

how would cal knock out nunn, he didnt have that power. he would need to outgass him.

not sure cal can outskill toney either, toney was a supreme infighter and midrange fighter, better than cal. Again Cal's best chance to to try to outgass him late on with volume punching.

this is the only time i'm going to lower myself by conversing with you...

calzaghe didn't run from any one. not one fighter. they avoided him like the plague, though. so get that fact through to your thick skull.

calzaghe had two fights at lightheavy with hopkins and jones. hopkins because it was the THE championship of the world. why waste his time with a titlist who couldn't draw flys to **** in dawson?

and the second being jones. jones had avoided calzaghe for years just like tyson had done to lewis. and like lewis, wanted to clean out the guys from their era.

the jones matchup also made the most money. calzaghe had just gone through a divorce so wanted to cash out against the highest bidder. which he had the right to. plus it was against the man who had avoided him for so long. so it made perfect sense.

saying that calzaghe didn't have the power to knock nunn out just shows how much of joes career you missed. EVERYBODY knows that he had bad hands late in his career so stuck to his boxing more. nunn was a middle whilst calzaghe was was a strong supermiddle. he would of beat him in every area of the game. then knocked him out. calzaghe had power when his hands were good.

toney had a much better chin so would of lasted the full twelve. after eight rounds calzaghe would be up by about two rounds, but then take over the rest of the fight as toney's stamina would fail to allow him to keep up the pace of joe. clazghe clear UD. toney would also have huge problems with joe's southpaw jab.

toney had a lot of skill but failed to use it most of the time due to him being poorly disciplined. calzaghe had great discipline.

unless a fighter came to toney where he could use his close quarter ability, he failed. anyone who used movement like jones or nunn, or kept him at range like mccallum, left him wanting. calzaghe overcame such problems in his career. thus proving to have more to his overall game. toney was very poor at adapting, calzaghe was brilliant at it.

also, calzaghe would never lose to the likes of griffen and thadzi. or to a former lightmiddle past his best in mccallum ( i had him losing the first fight).

would calzaghe draw with a fighter ( a lot think he lost) like sanderline williams?

would calzaghe struggle with the no names like toney did on a more than a few occasions?

    HELL NO!!

Have always felt Calzaghe would just pull away down the stretch on superior conditioning to win a close decision against Toney at SMW and LHW

Nunn has the style to give Calzaghe fits, but I think the best version of Nunn was at 160, was he the same fighter at 168? If he's in shape, Nunn-Calzaghe could be too close to call, all dependent on if Nunn shows up in top condition. For what it's worth, Calzaghe is more proven at 168
