Toney on Usyk: “He’s good, but he’s average”

What he did at lower weights is irrelevant to Cruiserweight or Heavyweight. He wouldn’t win a round against Usyk in either division.

 

Sam Peter is about twice his natural size and it was about 5-10 years after his good days lol

 

I think at cw or hw usyk would win, but toney would win rounds.
Usyk never fought anyone as talented or the style of toney.
One of the most talented fighters of all time.

 

He’d win rounds against Usyk. Tony bloody Bellew won a couple of rounds against Usyk FFS.

I love Oleksander but he’s not unbeatable (no one is).

Peter made Toney look incompetent. Twice.

Toney was mediocre at Heavyweight. Look at his record. He also had embarrassing loses in his ‘prime’ in lower weight classes along with some absolute gifts. How many gift decisions has Usyk received?

The issue I have with the boxing community is that context is never taken into consideration when we are doing rankings or hypothetical matchups. Now... I will say that from a "skill" perspective Usyk is definentely top 5 to 10. His ability adjust, counterpunching, jab, defense, makes him a marvel to watch. But I am hesitant when we start asking questions like, "Him vs Tyson, Lewis, Holyfield, Liston, Ali, Frazier, Foreman...etc" The reason why? Because he never faced heavyweights as great or as skilled as prior. Let's be real, Usyk's best win is argubaly Gassiev who would've been a fringe contender in the 70's, 80's, and 90's. A lot of the top fighters in this era would not be as invincible had the competed in a previous era. How do I know? Because they never faced that same level of competition. Overall, I wouldn't say usyk is average. I would say that he is slightly overrated h2h when against other elite heavyweights. I would actually favor Holified, Vlad, and Wlad prime for prime due to styles.

 

I said pfp talent, so was taking weight out of it, and also accepting his discipline issues liking Burger King and kfc too much.

Talent and skills were ridiculously good.
Hence being able to achieve what he did without much discipline snd horrible dieting.
It’s said he used to drink Pepsi inbetween rounds of sparring.
Not many can go from mw to hw and win a title on just skill/talent.

Roy did it but worked very hard for it, Toney did it out of laziness without even trying much.

Toney was a fun fighter, but highly overrated.

 

Who lost to a 0-0 MMA fighter? A lazy, unmotivated, clearly didn't train Fury beat a 0-0 MMA champ by the skin of his teeth. Certainly didn't lose.

Toney is a bitter, brain addled racist. Saying Usyk isn't great is a laugh. Dude dog-walked the greatest Cruiser era of all-time and did it all on the road. Moved up to HW and dog-walked the entire division of guys twice his size. Again, all of it on the road. Never was the establishment's darling. Didn't get favors from the judges/refs like so many greats/moneymakers of the past have. Just smacked everyone around and took their ****.

If the European Amateur Champ, World Amateur Champ, Undisputed CW champ, and Undisputed HW champ who won all his titles on the road, who has never lost, and who has never even been down and taken a count isn't great then no one in the history of boxing is great.

 

Usyk is Boxing while Toney is a fat phoney, stumbling and bumbling around the ring, SMH!
