I was just showing him one of Peter's recent fights. He said he hadn't seen them so i thought I would post it.

I would definitely want to see this fight.

I would pick Toney to win this time, but now that both of them are losing weight it would be interesting.

Let's make one thing clear, the version of James Toney that fought Peter in the rematch wasn't vintage James Toney. Even if James claimed he did train his ass off, he came in heavier and spent his whole training camp with Billy Blanks doing weight training, totally neglecting proper boxing training and sparring. That's why he was stiff in the upper body and had no timing and balance at all. It's also clear that James clearly beat Peter in their first fight and looked pretty good doing so, but he got robbed.

Truth to be told, we don't know what Toney really has left. He looked somewhat better in the Greer fight, but since Greer is a bum we shouldn't make some hasty conclusions that James is back. I want to see him have some more fights against better opposition than Greer first, and then I will make up my mind. If he can turn back time once again, then yes, he should have that grudge fight with Peter, since they obviously have some unfinished business left.

I wouldn't want to see it. Just seems like a fight which would wear each guy out more. I would rather see Toney go for it all and fight the Klitchkos. I honestly give him a chance.

I agree with every thing you said except that I don't think fighting Peter again is a a good idea for Toney. Peter caused Toney a little bit brain damage with all thoses illegal punches behind the back of Toney's head. Very dangerous fro a fighter's health, IMO Peter should have been DQ in the second fight.

I don't think either guy should entertain thoughts of a third fight.

I don't think it'll serve either of them particularly well, whoever wins.

He looked shot to me, slow and with no reflexes.
    I think he should retire.

He destroyed the journeyman fighter in just 2 rounds. How can he look shot, just because he got hit with a right hand or what ?!! This is boxing for christ sake, it is normal to get hit.

Really it is quite annoying what people want to read from that fight. That fight did not tell us much, did not tell us Toney was sharp or shot or whatever, just that he was in reasonable shape. He needs to fight more solid competition.

    First bout was very good.

If you don’t enjoy those kind of fights maybe you should just stick watching Mike Tysons highlight videos.

I thought he looked shot against Peter 2, I thought he looked shot against Rahman 2, I thought he looked shot against Oquendo so I couldn't even sit through it.
Toney is a defense oriented fighter and there's no way he should be getting nailed with lead rights from a bum like that. It wasn't just one right he hit him with. When a fighter shows that his reflexes have gone, whether or not he wins in two rounds over a stiff, not a journey man, a stiff, it suggests that he's shot.
I'm a big toney fan but I'm not going to delude myself into believing he's going to win titles or anything else because he clearly has Holyfield syndrome.

Greek only landed one right hand in the beginning. Toney got caught by surprise and wasn't even warmed up. I don't see it as a drama at all.

I think, he looked decent against Rahman II, making Rahman miss a lot and countering effectively.

Indeed, I agree that his reflexes looked bad in the Peter II fight where he got hit too much. But Toney did not train boxing for the fight, did too much weight lifting and was not loose in his uppper body movement.

Oquendo fight. Hes defense was decent at the beginning but he tired and then got hit way too much. Could also be fatigue, he was not in shape and motivated for this guy.

So, we don't know for sure and will have to wait until Toney fights more solid competition.
