They were not enforced, The rules say "if a fighter can not continue after a foul before the end of the 4th its a NC" Basicly Rock could have told the Doctor straight up I cant continue and according to these rules this should have been the outcome.
Rahman quit, he got rocked in the 3rd and used the headbutt as an excuse to quit so he wouldn't get KO'd in the next couple of rounds. Rahman got what he deserved. People are forgetting that Rahman fought the rest of the round before quitting on his stool, if the headbutt ****ed him up that bad he would have taken a knee during the round and told the referee that he couldn't see. He just didn't want to continue, that's a TKO loss.
You completely ripped the quote of of it's context, making it a useless statement. What he really said was: "I'm not gonna fight JT with 1 eye because of an accidental headbutt". That's like quoting Hitler on "The Jews are an important part of society" when in reality he said "The Jews are an important part of society and we must destroy them". And i can't blame Rahman to be honest. If it went one more round, it would've gone to the card, and giving that Toney started landing all of a sudden after the cut, there's a good chance he wouldn't taken the 4th round. That would've made it even on my card, but not on a hometown's card, which it would be.
Very Strong post, also the Rules state "if a fighter can not continue as a result of an accidental foul before the end of the 4th its a no contest" thats basic boxing 101 ******s wake up
he was hardly even cut ffs i didnt even see any blood fair decision. toney was ****ing him up and tahst why he quit
DUDE! The doctor has to deem the cut or injury severe enough to call the fight. The Doc didn't do that, he made a call based on what he felt Rock was saying. He asked rock 3 times if he WANTED to continue and Rock kept saying he couldn't see out of that eye, which isn't answering the question. Rock chose not to answer the question which left his "I can't see" statment up to the doc to decide what Rock meant....to him and obviously everyone in attendance that meant he wanted to QUIT. Which results in a TKO for JT.
The doc was the was asking the question in the corner and the corner never said rock wanted to continue nor did they say he wanted to quit, but as a doctor HEARING a fighter saying he can not continue he has to voice that to the ref and the commission.
Bottom line is that cut did cause bleeding did probably effect Hasims vision who knows about that only Rock knows that. but it did come from a headbutt and the fight was stopped before the fourth No Contest.
You are not implying that he only landed because of the cut are you. Holyfield vs. Toney started the same way with, Toney seeming to be on his way to a loss...but he truly takes a minute to set a trap for his opponents style.
i am guessing this has been said before. rahman was looking to go to points or no dec i have no complaints with rahman losing the fight. in the uk rules state accidental headbutt/1 st min or last min if the fight is stopped you lose. i see many times where fighters milk accidental headbutts for everything they are worth and get n/c acting. this is what happened with rahman but he came a cropper.
