The stoppage is very, very questionable from a by-the-book standpoint, but from a personal satisfaction point of view, it's only appropriate.

That is the most accurate assesment of last night's fiasco. Though, most posters on here won't admit to it.:good

WTF were you watching? Toney never got rocked, buzzed or dazed. It was never gushing and the the cut men had it under control....they just couldn't find Rocks Balls.....he must have left them back in Baltimore. All these cats talking about Rock couldn't see and it should have been a ND or NC are the ones who wanted to see JT get KO'd and look like he didn't belong at HW.

Round 3 is all anyone needs to watch in order to see that James was completely controlling the fight and actually ROCKED Hasim. Grant it....it took about 14 flush shots from toney to finally dent Rock and make his legs buckel but it was clear the clean effective puches from James were taking its toll. Which is why Rock knew he needed an out.

It was obviously a headbutt. It obviously affected Rahman. I'm not sure why you just don't call it a No Contest and order an immediate rematch (pending healing of the cut). It's a hollow win for Toney. He didn't really do enough to deserve a TKO.

THANK YOU SIR!! Rock knows boxing...he knows what to say and what not to say in the corner when a doctor is looking at you. If the cut was sever enough and dangerous enough the doc would have stopped the fight himself.....The Doc looked disgusted b/c he knew that the cut was not bad and the blood was not effecting Rocks vision but ROCK was saying that he couldn't see...which in boxing terms is "I can not fight". Again.....ROCK lost his set!

C'mon D....You know boxing! James for the first two rounds wasn't fighting full steam by any means...He was warming up and feeling rock out. By Round 2 James picked it up a bit and was landing more and controlling the fight. By round 3, you see James STEP UP his pace and action. He was at that point operating at 100% and Rock simply couldnt handle a 100% james. No one can say that Rock wasnt hurt and no one can say that Rock looked like he was going to win the fight. James simply took the heart from Rock by surprising the hell out of him in round three with a clinic he put on that ass and it wasn't bc he couldn't see. Why couldn't Rock stop the left hooks that james was leading with? His right eye was fine.

Rahman said that he couldn't see which worried the doctor to stop it. Rahman didn't want to continue and made the decision, he knew what would happen if he said that. Toney TKO3.

The doc denys he stopped the fight due the severity of the cut...he has to look out for the interest of the boxers...Rock told him that he could not see which is a fighter saying I can't continue. No Ring side doc will allow a fight to go on even if they deem a cut and bleeding isn't severe enough to call a fight if the fighter himself or herself is stating they can't see.

He looked at the cut and wasn't even going to call the fight...It just wasn't that bad.....I can't believe people are allowing Rock to get away with his ***** like actions. He's a HW professional Boxer and former world Champ....he's a ****ing clown for quitting.

I want to see a rematch...I just don't know if Rock wants one. He would have gotten the NC and would have came up with some excuse not to fight Toney again. But I'd like to see James finish the job more than ever now that Rock played himself.

I totally agree with you that the rock pussed out and looked for the easy exit, but the doctor said in the post0fight interview he didn't even inspect the cut, so he can't really say the cut wasn't severe enough to warrant a stoppage.

At any rate, Rahman always was and will be a bum in my eyes, but I won't be shocked if this decision gets overturned.

its the refs fault for making a hasty decision in my opinion. If the cut wasn't bad enough to stop the fight (i believe it wasn't..above the eye and not bleeding badly), he should have said that and asked rahman if he wanted to continue. that being said rahman wanted out it seems, for whatever reason. and He wasn't getting hit with right hands in round 1 and 2 not because of the effect of the cut but because toney wasn't throwing them. His legs buckled on that one shot...

The Doctor asked Rock if the cut was bad, It was not a bad cut but it was in a bad spot. Rock was getting hit in the 2nd and 3rd rds and it looked to me like Toney was coming on.Rock stated that he could not continue. I think the commision made the right call...Rock got rocked in the 3rd and it looked like the reason why he wanted it stopped looking for a ND but Toney at least got off the steriods and came in in the 220's. still fat looking however.

I see your point...honestly. I know you say the Doc stopped the fight and he did, but bc of what Rock said. It would have been different if the DOC himself stopped the fight b/c he deemed the cut too severe, but the doc "reccomened to the Ref that the fight be stopped b/c of what Rock said. But It could be overturned....I just think that would be jsut as bad as what happened to Soto.

-If the cut is bleeding into the fighter's eye and imparing his vision, the fight should be stopped.

-If the cut was caused by a headbutt, the stoppage is ruled a NC

Yes Rahman was being a ***** and yes he wanted out of the fight. But, if the fight was stopped because of the cut and the cut was caused by a headbutt, the fight is a NC.
