Let me compare this Toney-Rahman no contest to an example I have in mind that will hopefully never happen. Let's say Margarito and Cotto had their rematch in November. Let's say Cotto badly beats Margarito up for the first 3 rounds and in the 3rd round Cotto accidentally headbutted Margarito and a cut formed over Margarito's left eye. Then Margarito goes back to his corner and the doctor and referee come to his corner and say the cut is not severe enough to halt the fight and say that the fight continue. But Margarito refuses to come out for the 4th round!! Cotto should be declared the winner by TKO, but its a no contest! Margarito is getting his ass kicked, and he refuses to continue fighting on and he gets to keep the title by no contest. Margarito looked for the easy way out and Cotto got robbed of winning his title back!

Rahman does the exact same goddamn thing and the fight is a no contest!! Rahman quits in the corner and the referee stops the fight because Rahman refuses to come out for the 4th round. Toney got robbed of a TKO victory! Such a bullsh*t decision by the California State Athletic Commission

Dominance??? Dominance in one round? :rofl :rofl :rofl

I'll have to agree that Rahman looks like **** after the headbutt . . . but rules are rules and you can't call that dominance . . . if it happened only in 1 round.

rules are ****ing rules. why do you think it took 2 weeks to over turn? it was open and shut. when i was watchin the fight i was like wow what a waste, a NC. when they said TKO i was like omg what the ****

A fighter can make his own decision not to keep fighting and it doesn't go on his record as a loss? I can't believe this ****!! This is totally disgraceful and Rahman should be fined for unsportsmanlike conduct and then retire from boxing

Come on man, he got a serious cut from a headbutt in a fight where he had everything to lose with NOTHING to gain.

    Round 1 - Rahman
    Round 2 - Rahman
Round 3 - Toney(only shined after the cut or else that would've been a Rahman round too)

Really don't see how he's a clear winner, it's not like he knocked Rahman out after the headbutt or was being pummeled on like in Tyson/Golota for him to be the "clear" winner.

It seems that you are the one who does not understand the rules. Your argumentation is not solid as it is BY THE RULES up to the DOCTOR and not the fighter to determine if the fighter's vision is seriously damaged. These rules should prevent a fighter to look for a way out in case of a minor cut.

Neither a TKO or No contest is 100% correct as not all the procedures were respected by the amateurish officials . As arguments can be made for both sides, they should have sticked with their original decision, especially as this overruling harms much more seriously Toney who does not have a lot of time left.

The overruling was just a subjectf view by the president of the Commission.

Yea, it was the right decision to make. The fight didn't even make it into round 4.

I agree a 100 % with this post!! As arguments can be made for both sides it should have been much wiser to stick with the original decision. I don't like outcomes being changed unless there is absolutely no doubt that the rules have not been followed. I mean where is this going to end - is ervery questionable decision now going to be overuled by some bogus commission days after the fight? This is ridiculous and definitely another black eye for the sport.

Did the doctor did his job? Did he inspect the cut and declare the fight can go on despite the comment of the fighter ? :D

This is a technical issue. It was not team Rahman who stopped the fight . . . . it was the doctor. Because if team Rahman knew that they'll lose the fight if it gets stopped at that point . . . I'm sure Rahman could have continued.

    Round 1 - Even
Round 2 - Toney (Rahman landed nothing. Toney got good punches here and there)
Round 3 - Toney (Toney dominated round and made Rahman quit)

Didnt you say you will be impressed by Toney, if he isnt knocked out?

Rahman himself said “I’m not going to fight with one eye.” The doctor or referee didn't make the decision to stop the fight, it was Rahman who didn't want to continue so the referee stopped the fight at Rahman's request. If the fighter refuses to come out of the corner for the next round, regardless of a cut or not, that's quitting
