Yeah it's impossible to really know beforehand, and you have a point because Rock's advantage of size and power isn't going anywhere, as opposed to Toney's speed and reflexes being something a boxer traditionally loses as he gets older . . . Toney looked bad against Batchelder, but I honestly think batchelder was a horrible choice for a comeback fight for Toney because toney's primary advantage at heavyweight is his speed and infighting ability and he was fighting another supermiddle weight coming up to heavy, which neutralized his speed advantage
Im going out on a limb and saying Toney -SD As much as i like toney i havent liked the way he looked the last couple of outings..Hopefully the time off has a positive effect
As much as i love tony, He has lost ALLOT of weight and his chin may not hold up! Im gunna go for Rahman 7-9rnd KO
Rahman is talking alot of crap about not leaving it to the judges hands and beating up James Toney...... ....if Rahman is serious, he's going to get schooled by Toney, as Toney is at his best when the other guy wants to take his head off. ......but if Rahman follows the same plan that he did in his previous fight with Toney, which is to build a solid foundation and throw a jackhammer of a jab and live with that throughout the fight. He'll once again dominate Toney with the jab alone. If you can outjab Toney, the chances are that you'll have a pretty easy time with him. Example you say??? Look at the Samuel Peter fights.....the first fight Peter wanted to take Toney's head off, and Toney countered Peter silly.....Toney did a wonderful jab of countering one of the hardest punching heavyweights in existence..... .....but then looked what happened when Peter fought the rematch with the gameplan of consistently pumping heavy jabs on Toney's face..... A jabfest domination by Samuel Peter ensued, making Toney look like a rank amatuer and Toney the second comeing of SRR! Keep the jab in Toney's face, and this fight is Rahman's to lose!
As said before, Rahman has gotten rocked by his last two oppenents, and there not even on the same level as Toney, even in the power department. Toney will tire the lethargic Rahman and finish him late in the fight 9th round TKO for Toney.
I hope this fight isn't a complete stinker. I'm gonna be pissed if it is. It's 2:39 here already and I don't think the fight is even close to starting yet.
