Bad call by the officials. Fight should have been ruled a no contest. Cut was cuased by a headbutt, not a punch.
know anything bout boxing? even if rock pussed out which i dont think he did. an accidental foul or headbutt before the 4TH ROUND is always a NC learn to read some rules
After the fight he went on a tirade on why he didnt want to fight which actually gave his act away. I guese we should call the Torres/Holt fight a no contest to?atsch
I'm not putting words in your disgusting mouth, your post is pretty clear, you claimed you know the rules better and I should check out mine. By claiming you know the rules better obviously means you KNOW that before the 4th an accidental headbutt would cause this to be NC instead of a TKO. Rahman wasn't asked if he can or wants to continue, the doctor only asked him how bad that cut is and he said he couldn't see well from that eye, never said he doesn't want to continue nor did his corner then the doctor waved it off. By knowing these rules why are you cheerleading for an officially announced CONTROVERSIAL win?
IM SUPRISED AT YOU MAN! they stopped the fight because of what rock said not because of the cut.., rock knew what he was doin and it blew up in his face.., do you think toney woulda quit? if ya do go see the tim littles fight..,now that was a cut!!!!!!!!!!!! TONEY TKO3 was the right call DAN LAW
Torres was floored by a punch in the end, the headbutt started it and then ate a punch. The situation here is TOTALLY different, Rahman wasn't knocked down or out and it was an unintentional headbutt with the doctor coming in and asking for it. There were no wild enough exchanges that caused a butt followed by a KO in an extremely fast fight to compare them. Both fights simply CAN'T be compared, the situation here is totally different.
The cut wasn't that bad at all, but that doesn't matter. Rahman pussed out, but that doesn't matter. The doctor still was the one to stop the fight. He said so himself in the post-fight interview. You could hear the ref say the cut was caused by an accidental headbutt. Under those facts, it's a NC, period. Toney WOULD have won the fight anyway, and Rahman was bailed out by the doctor (who very easily could have told Rahman he was full of **** and made the fight go on), but what happened happened.
agian son ... no where did i say anything about rules... i clearly said rahman shouldn't are about what the results were if he was so scared for his health... don't argue with daddy son you'll just lose
Rahman was asked how bad the cut was man and his answer was honest and simple "He couldn't see". Rahman was never asked if he could continue or wanted to, nor was his corner, the doctor just waved it off. If a cut is caused by an accidental headbutt before the 4th then it's a NC. If this was caused by a punch and Rahman claimed he couldn't see or didn't want to continue with the doctor waving it off then yes this is a TKO but that's not the case here, not even close.
Scar, you're pure class, I can count on you to be the voice of reason here. I won small bets on Toney and Toney inside, but it should have been ruled a no-contest, no question. Analyzing the cut and the converswation and all that is pointless, the rulebook is very clear. There's no "controversy" here, as nobody can legitmately call this decision correct. It's 100% wrong, regardless of Rock's decision. Rock may have been loking for a way out, but it was the wise thing to do. He's fighting a 50/50 fight in his opponents backyard under his opponents promotion, with 9 rounds remaining and an unfair handicap. Remember boxing is their livelihood, they are not fighting only for machismo and pride, their retirement funds depend on their boxing decisions. Rock made the correct decision by getting out before 4 for a no contest, so he could heal up and fight again with a better chance of winning, and thus a better chance of getting a bigger fight with a bigger purse. You cant possibly fault Rock for this, he is a professional athlete who made a wise professional decision, just because he's a fighter doesnt mean he has to be stupidly brave and reckless.
All that jibberish is in the rule books? You just said earlier that if the fighter says he cant continue it should be a tko. Rahman is slick enough to know that what he said would stop the fight but he expected the fight to be decided for the cut alone.
