If Toney is stuck on sticking around I'd rather see him fighting these guys. The dudes been in alot of big fights and is starting to eat alot of leather. They can all make a little bread and not risk serious injury, sadly I can see the winner getting a big title shot probably after the winner faces hop. Then probably a Spinks-Tyson repeat.

Well, I guess. Briggs is much slower these days. I wish he would just retire due to getting hit by these giants. Let him enjoy his money. He has been slurring with his speech for some time now and fighting HW's is not good at all for his health. If it is more money, then beat Tarver and hope to get a big fight with Hopkins and call it a career.

Didn't mean he should retire purely because he lost to Dawson, I just thought I'd read somewhere that he had hinted that he hoped to get into broadcasting more. Having said that the Dawson fights didn't leave everyone calling for more. If Dawson moves to heavyweight I don't think he'd be a player at all but if he needs the money that bad then go ahead. If he proves me wrong then even better.

Tarver couldn't even beat Sylvester Stallone.

One item of note, Toney's September fight he came in at 217 pounds, he hasnt weighed anywhere close to that since his 1st HW fight against Holyfield at the same weight.

Did anyone see that Sept fight?

I did. Toney won by KO 2 but was fighting a journeyman. It did not prove much except that he can work himself back in reasonable shape.

    Wow.

They should both get involved in broadcasting at Showtime instead. Tarver as a commentator, and Toney as Jim Grey's interview assistant/hype-man.

Yeah I think TONEY is done on the top scene and get's KO'd by either Klitschko but still Id pay to see him fight a journeyman if he want on tour and would like to see him vs HOPKINS or Tarver.

Dan Goossen has already been contacted regarding the potential Tarver-Toney fight and here is his answer:

"It was nice to hear Antonio speaking so brazenly about James. Of course, things seem to always have a way of working out. We've been trying very hard to get James that one more big opportunity to either make a statement he's still to be considered a threat to the world championship, or ready to call it a day as being one of the greatest fighters of all-time. Besides Tarver, a few other opportunities have suddenly opened up and I will discuss all with James in the coming days. To answer your question, no matter which direction we go, I see them all easy to close".

My thoughts: Maybe Goossen is bluffing here, I am not sure there are any other opportunities. Anyway, unless Toney gets some sort of eliminator for the heavyweight championchip, he should fight Tarver, which is a decent fight.
