Apparently, Toney and Banks are in early negotiations for a June/July date on Showtime in Detroit. I think that this classic crossroad battle of generations would make a lot of sense for both sides. The winner emerges as a top 5 ranked fighter and would represent a valid contender for Haye or the Klitschko's.
Given Banks and Toney's ranking within the WBC a top 5 ranking is a lock. In times where the Sosnoskis (whatever his name is) , faded champs like Rahman and Ruiz who haven't fought a ranked contender in years get title opportunities, I wouldn't mind see the winner of this pairing getting matched with the champs.
Hey, I don't think this is a bad fight at all actually. I think it's pretty good. For both guys right now.
toney has a chance here to throw himself back in the limelight. toney has always fascinated me, he's like a mixture between a weight jumping journeyman and a p4p champ. he willl go years taking fights in any weight class at a weeks notice, but then suddenly he gets a big name fight and outclasses the guy. can he do it again tho?
Your point? All 3 are garbage. All cause Toney is rated #5 doesn't mean he's really #5. For ****s sake Derric Rossy is #7. LOL. The guy can't carry any of the champs jocks, let alone a top ten rating.
