Apparently I can't say Toney is garbage at HW because of his past accomplishments. Dude shouldn't be a HW to begin with. Maybe if the guy showed up in shape he would have fared better in the division.
Lets go Banks!!!!! Not sure that this fight would instantly make him a contender if he were victorious but it would go a long way towards him getting a title shot. Toney is finished and needs to forget about boxing and concentrate full time at the buffet.
Has he really? He couldn't have landed more than 20 punches all fight before knocking out Walker. And he still knocked out Walker with the first shot that landed flush.
how did he fair bad he smoked evander woped rydell booker so bad he hasnt faught agin beat dominck quinn easily beating up rahman befor stoppage an no dec handled ruiz regardless has his conditiong at hw been in? for sure but refer to future hof as garbage is definitly lame to not appreciate from mw to hw an never change style sit in pocket aginst any opponet is extremly impressive. an hey i hope that vargas fan moniker is fernando cause if it is devin you seriously cant knock any hw
Holy = Shot Booker??? LOL He was terrible. Guinn ended up being a bust Beat Ruiz, credit there..OOPS he was on roids. I don't care if it was for an injury. Rules are rules. Drew with Rahman in a fight he lost but arguably won the rematch Won a razor thin fight over.....Fres Oquendo Beat Batchelder and some other bum And lost twice to Sam Peter Did I miss something? Nope. He did nothing special at HW. And I don't even know who Devin Vargas is. I was a huge Fernando fan when he was ruling 154.
you should have heard the idiots on here around 2005 they tried to act and talk just like James Toney. They said he was going to KO the Klitschko's etc. Fat ass Toney could not even beat a joke like Sam Peter for christ sakes. He should have retired 6 years ago. If he was in shape he would be a Cruiserweight not a Heavyweight.
Toney should just retire. I like him and appreciate what he has done for this sport but as a fan I need to admit he's blown his chance. He didn't take his fights with Peter seriously and showed up out of shape. He has lost that desire for the sport and just needs to RETIRE RETIRE RETIRE RETIRE RETIRE RETIRE RETIRE RETIRE RETIRE RETIRE RETIRE RETIRE RETIRE RETIRE RETIRE RETIRE RETIRE RETIRE RETIRE! Wheh that was alot but yeah I appreciate what he's done but his time has ended a long time ago.
Yep, that's a very realistic scenario. Now it's up to Toney to finally climb into the ring again or to continue his seemingly endless talking session...
On the other hand, if you start at 157 pound and fight a 260 pound world class heavyweight while staying in the pocket and arguably beating him the first time, that is not something too many fighters gets done. In fact, I can't remember anybody doing it.
I have doubts whether Toney is serious about fighting Banks. All, Toney has been doing lately is talking.
**you could make a strong case that Toney won the first fight vs Sam Peter. I dunno if it's just injuries ... and weren't most of Toney's suspensions more recent .. because of his 2 positive tests for PEDs? James has had several opportunities to capitalize and failed to do so .... other then the 1st fight with Peter .. which was out of his control because of judging he's blown it with the positive test for roids vs Ruiz, and of course the title fight with Rahman which ended in a draw.
Toney responded in a recent interview that he is willing to accept Bank's challenge, he now waits for Showtime to call him. He also said that Banks is a bum and that he is still the King of Detroit. The usual meaningless trashtalking I guess. At this point, James has to prove something. Banks is not a bad fighter IMO, if Toney wins, he may very well fight Vitali by the end of the year.Vitali has never faced a fighter as mentally strong as James Toney, so Toney may have an edge there. Fighter who face Vitali just seem to freeze in the ring, that won't happen with the tough and durable Toney.
