valuev i doubt will be getting a shot at haye anytime Looks all set he will be given step aside money so haye can fight a klitschko or someone else no one wants to see valuev v haye again Toney v Valuev would be weird i doubt valuev could catch toney clean if JT is in any kind of shape but on the other hand Toney wouldnt be able to hurt Valuev at all
The only source is Dan Rafael.I believe that there may have been talks but it seems unlikely that anything serious has materialized. In recent interviews Toney has not stated that he is close to a deal with Valuev.
The Toney/V.Klitschko negotiations have also been kept secret until they broke down... If negotiations take place, it proves that both parts must be interested in such a pairing. As the proposed date is May 29th, I guess that we will soon find out.
When was the last time Toney schooled anyone? I wish people would stop living in the past with this guy.
We have no reason to suggest he has much in the tank. He's 41, has been inactive, is fat, and hasn't put in a noteworthy performance since beating Holyfield. He's taken steroids, lost convincingly to Sam Peter, should have lost to Oquendo and struggled with guys like Danny Batchelder. Do you want me to go on?
I will not go into endless discussions about Toney's hw resume - I do agree though that Toney hasn't shown much since the 2nd Rahman fight. If an unmotivated, letargic out of shape Toney shows up, he will surely lose to almost every top 20 hw contender out there.
He didn't show much in the Rahman fight either. Just Rahman also sucks. He looked good for one round after nailing Rahman with a huge headbutt, and that's about it.
Toneys last convincing performance was against Peter (first fight of course), and he did look ok for the 3 rounds against Rahman in the rematch. Admittedly, that is some years ago. But Valuev is simply not very good, and he's been beaten by an over the hill Larry Donald and Evander Holyfield (though both got robbed). Valuev has always been overrated, and I don't think he's getting any better at this point, rather the opposite... if Toney has but a little left, he has a chance at beating Valuev.
Weird, but heres the problem for Toney, those that beat Valuev only had to do one thing...MOVE, thats the one thing Toney can't do anymore.
Agreed this was the blue print to beat Valuev so far, I however feel that Toney's infight skills could become a problem for the Russian giant.
