Toney is reportedly 215lbs now, meaning he already lost 15lbs during the last six months. He is in decent shape now. Losing another 15lbs and going down to CW is a bad idea tho imo, he would be too weight-drained. Toney didn't just fatten up to become a HW, he also put on a lot of muscle - just look at his neck & shoulders. He can't lose that so fast again. The Hopkins fight is all talk, you know as well as me that it won't come off, and Toney knows it too. It's time for him to finally put up some convincing performances at HW again, now that he is in shape. Wasn't he supposed to fight Sergei Lyakhovich in July? He should try and make one last run at a HW belt, preferably the WBA belt.
I don't see anyway Toney gets down to that weight...that would be impressive indeed! This fight may have seemed intrigung a few years ago...I think Hop's has many better options...and Toney, no he does not...If he can down this fight makes sense for him...If I was Hop's there are better fights out there IMO
This would be an incredibly boring fight. Trust me, nobody wants to see this ****. Hopkins has no problem making a fight boring as he did it on live television on more than one occasion. Toney isn't going to come foward. Bad fight.
When you first think of those names in the ring together you do get chills but once the reality sets in and you start to think , hmmmm two well past their best defnsive and counter punching masters it aint exactly going to be exciting is it. For these two guys to be in good fights they need someone coming at them. ( I respect Nard hugley but I do think the one man he never wanted anything to do with was Toney , that said , he would beat him now ! )
Yeah, seriously, that fight should have been signed.Would probbaly enjoy that. Guess losing Goossen ain't that good either.
This is a story that just won't go away which means, to me at least, that someone, somewhere is trying to generate hype for a possible fight... I got told in January that this fight was going to happen and Boxing News reported it a few weeks after I started the thread below... http://www.eastsideboxing.com/forum/showthread.php?t=120662 If this fight does happen and it's on HBO, the 24/7 will be the best ever!
The 24/7 WOULD be the greatest one ever! Toney would OWN Hopkins in the trash talking "...anyone, I'll beat them all. From flyweight to yo mommas weight!" :rofl:rofl:rofl Hopkins is a stuttering, stammering fool when he tries to talk, Toney by KO! I wouldn't even watch this fight, If toney does get down to 200, I reckon he can probably take a UD off Hopkins though. :good
They will have to carry Toney into the ring on a stretcher while trying to revive him with hamburger grease insulin.
