I understand your point of view, just wanted to state that the winner of Toney vs. Brewster would be a much more credible opponent than Dimitrenko at this point. On the other hand why not matching Brewster or Toney against Dimitrenko. It would be interesting to see how the outcome of such a battle between heavyweights from different generation would be.
yes. I agree with torpedo slim, Toney is easily my favourite fighter of all time, I would much rather see him call it a day.
:good Now that's not a bad idea, either of them would be a decent matchup for Dimitrenko and help legimatize his ranking in some way should he win over Brewster or Toney. But then, most would probably say he won against a shot, out of shape, has-been......oh well.
Brewster - Meehan was a fight between two friends aswell, we all know how entertaining that one was. :-(
brewster with all his power should win this.Toney's skills have diminished but his chin is still very healthy as he showed against Sam Peter.I think Toney's chin will finally crack in this fight. Brewster tko 9
A win over ATG Toney, even today's lesser version, would catapult any heavyweight into immediate title contention. While Dimitrenko vs. Toney would be a good fight for the fans, I doubt that Universum will allow this to happen, Toney simply has too much left at this point and would, despite of the huge size difference, represent a major risk for for the still rather green Dimitrenko.
Toney has done nothing at Heavyweight to make me think he would win this fight. I doubt it happens anyway.
He beat an old far past his prime Holyfield. He cheated against Ruiz. He won the first fight against Peter but it was close and Peter is very crude, additionally he got nearly shut out the second time. Toney is a very good fighter but at hw he never did anything that should him warrant a ranking in the top5 or perhaps even top10.
A lot of people are underestimating Toney at this point of his career. Toney has oftentimes proven people wrong in the past (Nunn, Jirov, Holyfield for example) so you can never count him out. I have been following his career since a long time and he still has something left. He proved that in his last fight against Rahman where he appeared improved defensively. He is a Top 10 heavy right now and to me arguably beating the number two heavyweight in the world (Peter) is impressive.
Let's see he beat an old Holyfield, used steroids and beat Ruiz was stripped of the win, and lost 2 times to Sam Peter who has no skills at all and then used steroids again and got caught against a guy Brewster just KOed in 5 rounds. Yep, Toney sure has done a lot at Heavyweight. atsch :rofl
