I admit I watched much MMA/UFC but when I have I just find it extremely boring. Dunno whether I been missing the good fights but everytime I see it it just involves one bloke in tight underwear straddling another bloke in tight underwear ! not feeling it to be honest

Yea it did, it proved that if you're one dimensional like only knowing boxing you better not come to MMA/UFC cuz you ain't gonna survive. You better know another type of martial arts wether it's BJJ-wrestling-muay thai etc.

Toney was a pretty big puncher at middleweight, just ask Nunn. I do see what your saying, but if Coture did take a solid punch from Toney. Lights out for Randy. The UFC is no street fight, I never once seen a guy get submitted from a choke in the streets. You do see guys get knocked out from punches.

it's a street fight in the sense that there are less restrictions. Wrestlers can wrestle and boxers can box. Yesterday the wrestler won.

MMA is very close to a street fight. If Toney fought Couture in a street fight, it would look very similar. I am a boxing fan but MMA is more complete.

Of course it proved something- people are pros in their given sports for a reason. People who can actually play multiple sports well at a professional level are pretty fookin' rare.

See also: Michael Jordan and baseball.

    Disagree.

It showed that, on his own turf and with his own rules, even a 220lb WWF joke can defeat a middle aged middleweight carrying 80lb of lard.

Not really, most street fights start with a fist being thrown. In a street fight their are no rules, the UFC has plenty of them. John McCain made the UFC more watered down, and took away the more street fighting feel the old early 90's UFC brought to the table. No kicking while a fighters down, no headbutts, no hitting in the back of the head, no bitting, you got gloves on your hands, etc... As you can see, the UFC today has very little elements of an actual street fight.

It was Toney's choice to fight him. Close thread.

You can start MMa fight with a fist being thrown but as you can see tackling someone down can be just as effective or even more.

Most street fight I saw looked more like MMA fights than boxing.
If biting, hitting behind the head, elbowing, headbutting was allowed, the result of Couture- Toney would not change.
