Toney vs Couture set for 28 August

I dont know what Coutures form is as of late but if he's half as good as when he was in his prime, toney is going to get ripped to pieces.

 

Doesn't look good for Toney. Imagine Toney lands something on Coture and knocks him out? Dana White would freak.

 

It's actully a bit ignorant to think that Jame is going to go into this new realm of fighting with JUST his boxing knowledge.atsch James isn't stupid.....he's arrogant at times but he knows that he's in a different world with MMA. And in order to feed his massive ego he knows he has to win in order to fuel it. He also knows that if he's ONE DEMENSIONAL in MMA it would be like him being ONE DEMENSIONAL in boxing......It ain't gonna work. He'll be prepared.

I bet Courture goes for a take down at the first bell man. Let's hope James bangs him with a right on the way in and puts him to sleep.

 

dude.....you dont much about boxing and even less about mma....couture was 1 match away from being an olympic wrestler....won college championships, hes been wrestling for 25 years. thats alot more than a street fighter. he wil be better at punching than toney will be at wrestling. toney will get embarrassed and will embarrass all of boxing....couture isnt gonna stand there and trade with him, toney gets one chance and when he misses he will be on his back getting pounded

 

No disrespect, but if Toney cannot even properly prepare himself for boxing matches against guys like past it rahman and oquendo (and many other opponents) in a sport he's supposedly an expert at, how can anyone expect him to properly prepare for mma?

 

I think Toney will do boxing proud. He may not win...but that's ok. I don't think Randy will dominate like MOST believe. Toney it seems is taking this very seriously and I think he's preparing ALL AROUND to ensure he is ready. With James's natural instinct of fighter coupled with his ELITE stand up....I think his learning curve going from boxing to MMA will be easier than a lesser guy making that same transition. At least james isnt going for a creme puff. he's tackling a legit TOP HW in MMA. And he's shown A LOT of respect for Randy which is indicating he's taking this seriously. I wish Toney the best and I hope he wins. I jsut don't think that will be the case.

Did you see the Rahman fight? Both of them? Toney got jobbed int he first one and Toney was humiliating Rock in the 2nd one before Hasim bitched out.

Quendo he looked bad....honestly James has been all over the place in boxing not being consistant and all. But When James is focused....like we saw at Crusier weight and earlier in his career you see a MASTER fighter...not just a boxer but he's got incredible fighting instinct.

Toney needs to take this seriously and I believe he is. If he isn't well know b/c he'll embarrass himself if he's not prepared. Simply b/c he's facing a TOP HW in MMA with regard to Randy.

 

I don't know that toney's stand up would be elite in mma. his skills have diminished anyway, plus he's gonna have to be worried about take downs and kicks and he's not gonna be in with another HW boxer who will hold with him and will let him be inactive at times. Toney would be better off going for a "creme puff" if he were serious about MMA to get started. The fact that he isn't, probably means he's hoping to make a decent pay day off his name (and couture's) rather than even try to be a serious mma fighter

 

I would've preferred to see Toney have a couple of lesser fights before taking this one. But Toney is at least fighting someone older. Toney has a huge advantage in the hands and coture has a huge advantage in ground fighting. Hopefully Toney will be prepared to knee Coture if he shoots.

 

Saw all of the second. Don't think i saw the first but don't doubt that toney got robbed but rahman has nearly been as much of a slug as toney in the past 5 or more years. As to the more recent 2nd fight, It was a three round fight where both guys looked **** and toney had some moments before the stoppage due in large part to rahman's vision problems (tho i know rahman overexaggerated a bit). i thought rahman won the first and maybe even the second in pretty dull rounds. the fact is it was a short fight and toney didn't look great and toney hasn't been in real shape for a while.

Like i said below, he's most likely looking to hopefully not totally embarass himself and make a decent payday rather than becoming a real mma fighter

 

Couture is a very good wrestler with some stand-up skill. Toney is a very good boxer, with no grappling skill.

 

im a boxing fan...i could give a **** about MMA...my name "iceman" is in no way affiliated as a fan of "iceman chuck liddel" nor the guy from top gun...but from the fact i worked at an ICE manufacturing company for 15 years and thats what people called me...with that said....i dont think randy will beat up on him for 15 mins..i think he will submit him and VERY quick....and toney will say "that aint ****, lets fight" :rofl
if i owned a farm....i would bet it all..on RANDY....but always that chance toney can land one on him...because randy has been put to sleep a few times by alot less HITTERS
