This fight means NOTHING.... so ignorant mma fans can celebrate all they want when couture wins, but Toney is nothing but a name in todays sport, and hasnt been relevant for years, and was actually OUTBOXED by.... Sam Peter.

This fight is a joke.... mma vs boxing.... give me a break.

its no different than when berbick and saad muhammad (shells of them) got their ass handed to them in MMA matches. they dont have enough money to pay our best to fight their best.....even if our best is wlad...wlad makes more in a fight than 10 of their top guys in a year...

The 2nd fight Toney started off slow....in the 1st....but by the 2nd and especially the 3rd....Hasim was getting schooled. And everyone has that moment in a fight where something or something(s) happen to where you just know the outcome. The 3rd round with Toney boxing the **** out of RocK I knew he wasn't going to win anther round.

unfortunately the butt ended the fight with the help of Hasim finding a way out. You could be right about Toney looking for a payday but based on Toney and his demeanor......Toney is hella competitive. He's gotten complacent but this may be a new "flame" to fuel that competitive spirit. I hope so. But it's a tall order. i look forward to seeing James try this out.

I'm not saying James is gonna win....I'm just saying James has got a great chance at transitioning and doing well. Maybe not become the HW champ or anything but he could win some fights and he could learn some new things with this kind of experience. You can tell I like James. He's let me down along with boxing many times by not taking things seriously...but when you see a fully focused and determined James you get exactly what you'd expect.

Because he doesnt need it. Your looking at one of the greatest figthers over the last 20 years. The most gifted natural fighter to step into the ring in the modern area, if not all time.

There is no way he can learn wrestling skills in time to be able to compete against an elite wrestler like Randy Coture.. This is a mismatch.

I saw the fight differently for the most part but it's all good. Hey if Toney proves me wrong and somehow manages to be in shape do enough to be competitve, I'd be happy for him and eat my words. Just don't see it happening.

this fight won't be 'boxing vs. MMA', as it will happen under MMA rules. So it's a pure MMA fight.

MMA guys don't have no boxing skills, but they've got more MMA skills than Toney. And unlike real HWs like Mercer and Botha, Toney doesn't have one-punch knockout power at HW. Couture has more than 25 fights - he has 25 MMA fights, but a lot of martial art experience from before that.
I say that Toney will lose, and that's unbelievably sad..

:patsch Don't put words in my mouth, don't take what I say out of context. I responded to a previous poster who said that MMA fighters "dont have much skills." Who said Toney was going into this fight with just his boxing skills? He'd be a fool to do that. I know that he's working with a prominent trainer to prepare himself for this. I like Toney a lot, but I highly doubt it will be enough. If James had ANY prior MMA experience, if he wasn't 41 years old, well past his prime and out of shape, it might be a different story. But here he is, fighting a very different fight against a serious opponent with much more experience. They're setting him up to fail. Best of luck to James, but the odds are against him.

No to everything in this post. Randy is a greco guy. James has one chance before Randy closes distance, otherwise James is going to get clinched and put on the floor and subbed or TKO. Randy's chin is pretty bad at this stage, so who knows. Randy will not try to trade with James at all, he would get countered in to oblivion. It has to be said that James probably has the worst crossover style of any boxer. He is fat, ignorant of ground game and just generally brain damaged.

    this man knows

but then again, maybe mma fighters really have no skills.. it would be a big embarassment if Toney doesn't win..
