I would love to see this. I am fed up of having to endure the cowardly Harrisons boring matches. Hopefully James can beat and punish him into retirement.

 

I want to see results. Meaning, KO's at Heavyweight. All we have seen is Holyfield's trainer Don Turner throwing in a towel. I want to see actual KO's in fights. We have not seen that yet. He will get his first KO at Heavyweight if he fights Harrison. So, I am not posting falsehoods as James has not knocked anyone out at Heavyweight.

 

Toney would not knock out Harrison with one shot but he would hit him regularly and hard enough to stop him.

should be another loser must retire fight. this is no 'cakewalk' for present version of toney. audley will again have a massive size/reach advantage and toney is eroded and fights to his comp anyways.

 

You stated why this not a walkover for Toney. I agree with you but Toney should have enough left to prevail in this one.

 

Umm, who cares? James "Butter Ball" Toney is a joke, and don't even get me started on Harrison. This a bull **** fight, neither one of these guys has won a significant fight since there Heavy's debute.

There are MUCH better up and comming fighters who deserve the spotlight more than these two. One of them is a blown up middle weight, and the other has wasted his carrer "playing it safe" on crap fights ...

You set your own standard in a way that a TKO doesn't count...that is biased, and misleading. I wonder how many KOs we can erase off of your favorite fighter's records due to a "T" in front of the KO.

TKOs count as KOs in this sport. Fact.
Holyfield is an ATG and his cornerman that night was as experienced as it gets.

The fact that the towel was thrown in doesn't nullify the fact that Evander was falling victim to both a fast and powerful attack. Toney knocked him down and scored the TKO, he would have only hurt HOLY worse had it continued. His corner did the right thing and nobody denies that. I am a fan of Evander and had no desire to see him put to sleep, or stretched out to the point of not being able to make the count. Toney's victory is just as meaningful, with the outcome unquestioned by both boxing observers and Evander.

 

Two things, 1st and most IMPORTANT is that was a OLD, SHOT Holyfield

2nd, Toney was actually in shape.

A prime Holyfield would of put Toney right through the canvas. Holyfield was done after his fights with Bowe.

 

According to some on this forum, pretty much anyone who has been knocked out has a glass jaw. Some idiot in the "a mere con" thread said the same thing. How do YOU know he has a glass jaw?

Jones gets knocked out by a HUGE punch from Tarver, and by the hard hitting Johnson and HE has a glass jaw. And Litzau? Come on. They don't have great jaws, but not everyone has a glass jaw just because they've been knocked out.

Or maybe they do. I bet Lennox Lewis must have a glass jaw in your book too, even though he's been in there with plenty of BIG punchers and done just fine. Hell, almost every heavyweight has the potential to score a knockout unless they're fighting someone like a Ray Mercer.

Thanks for proving my point. Toney's 1 TKO in 9 Heavyweight fights tells us he has no power. You asked and I provided the evidence. An 11% KO rate in 9 fights is terrible especially the opposistion he has faced at Heavyweight.

James Toney has no power at Heavyweight. Chris Byrd has a higher KO perentage than Toney at Heavyweight. Think about that or a second. Do not come on here and tell me James Toney has power. The facts and statistics tell us otherwise.

 

I don't even care if James keeps on fighting until he's 90 and loses as many fights in the next 50 years as he's won now. How he once was was good enough to make up for that, and still make up one of the most skilled fighters ever.

1. People began to call Holyfield shot immediately following this fight...perhaps you have a **** memory, or weren't posting at the time...but the consensus was that he would beat Toney on the way to another title back in '03, calling him shot after the fact is revisionist history.

2. We will see what kind of shape Toney is in next time. His weight has already dropped 2 fights in a row...some of you are slow in recognizing the trend. View his recent interviews...his head is not so round.

I heard that Toney was in an advanced state of negotiations with David Haye, but that was just a rumour. Where have you got this from?

Toney should win, providing he isn't shot to bits. Harrison's 6ft6 and 250lbs so usually he'd have nothing but a puncher's chance against a top-tier heavyweight, but with Toney's chin he wont even have that.

Toney by a wide UD. I hope Harrison wins though, just to see the smug haters lost for words.
