He wasnt just beat up he was schooled, and in my opinion that was pretty embarrassing for a ring legend like Holyfield. Yes he should have won against Valueav, but so should have the last ten guys hes fought.:yep

I also had Toney-Jirov 116-111. Jirov did well and had a good style against Toney, but that night James was something special.

Holyfield was robbed against Valuev, but that's like saying a pickpocket who steals pennies off an old man has robbed him. Holyfield deserved a decision and some credit, but he certainly didn't look impressive doing it; nor is that surprising, considering Holyfield was old and fossilised by that point. He belonged in a museum, not a ring, but he still won a 10-2 decision on my card.

I had Toney 3 rounds vs a past his prime Jirov.

Regarding Toney's sytle, slick counters can't always be seen live depending on where you sit. However, they can be seen easily on tv. I think the judges at ring side are less likely to score a close round for Toney because sometimes they lack the view of what he is doing, and Toney wasn't a super active in some rounds.

Perhaps that had something to do with Letterman's card. For the most part, Letterman picks the correct winner far more often than the 3 men paid to be judges.

Jirov did have a great boxing style to face Toney, though. If he was of Toney's class, he would've easily won. Slick counter punchers hate pressure fighters/volume punchers.

I always wanted to see a rematch in this fight. I thought the fight was a draw or slightly towards Jirov. I was very unimpressed with the way that Toney would languish on the ropes and eat body shots. However, James did finish the really strong and put Jirov on the canvas in the 12th. It would have been a fun rematch.

James would never see under 200 again.

Toney 8 rounds to 4 could be 9 rounds rounds to 3

At best giving Jirov every benefit of the doubt i still have Toney winning 7 rounds Jirov winning 5 rounds.

There is no way or shape that you could have given that fight to Jirov.

Lederman school of scoring, most missed punches wins. On that basis, Jirov was robbed.

Cosell must have said "That didn't connect; the crowd was fooled, don't you be fooled" or something like it in almost every fight.
