Toney vs McCallum is one of the highest level boxing matches I've ever seen

I saw the first two fights but not the third . Definitely some close and well fought technical matches

He was awesome. I’ve contemplated whether or not Kalambay belongs in the HOF

The third fight was good, but nowhere near as good as the first two. I thought the first fight was a draw, second fight I gave to McCallum and the third fight was a very clear Toney win.

I’ve come to terms with the fact that he’s probably never gonna make the cut but in reality Kalambay’s resume is superior than some of the fighters who have been inducted.

The only other fights that I personally think comes close when it comes to high level boxing would be Juan Manuel Marquez vs Marco Antonio Barrera, Pernell Whitaker vs Buddy McGirt 1, and Donald Curry vs Marlon Starling 2.

If Kalambay was American he would've been in years ago.

I agree. Guy was only stopped once in 64 fights and has wins over Mike McCallum, Iran Barkley, Doug Dewitt, Herol Graham, Robbie sims, Steve Collins. Buster Drayton and a handful of decent fellow euro fighters. About the only thing he lacked was charisma as he was overshadowed by more popular stars of the day .

I remember Nigel Benn saying in an interview in 1988 that Kalambay was by far the man to beat. The interviewer didn’t seem to know who he was, mentioning Hearns, Barkley, Duran, Leonard, Nunn, Tate, Graham, Watson etc

The scoring of their first fight was pretty awful. Toney landed just so many more hard clear blows. The draw given by the one judge was borderline but the other judge given it to Mc Callum, that is really hard to argue

Second fight I gave to the old master McCallum, who also rightly beat Kalambay in their second fight.

I remember McCallum winning the last 4-5 rounds of the Toney rematch.

First fight I had Toney up 115-113,
Second fight I had Toney up 114-113. In the second fight Mc Callum punches had no power.
