Monzon by 15 round decision..outworks and frustrates Toney "whilst" using his reach advantage to the fullest.

Monzon uses his reach and movement to frustrate Toney on route to a unanimous decision win.

if bennie briscoe can do what he did against monzon then, i see toney winning this by decision, or maybe a KO depending on monzons chin.

as great as monzon was, he was a 1-2-3 fighter. perfect for toney

Never seen the first Briscoe fight i think theres no footage of it but in the rematch Monzon put on a boxing clinic he was like a Matador playing with the bull, always one or two steps ahead of Bad Bennie and picked him apart with combination after combination while moving backwards and side to side, other than a moment in the ninth round where Briscoe hurt him with a left hook i think it was all Monzon, from the fights i've seen of Monzon this is by far his best and most impressive performance, this fight really shows how good Monzon really was. IMO this Monzon would always beat Toney.

Well Toney, despite a glittering resume at MW, really lost to Tiberi and atleast once to McCallum.

Monzon is just in a different class as a MW force.

That's right bladerunner..Monzon went from a very good to a great fighter in that Briscoe rematch...surviving that big right hand that put him on the ropes, outboxing him as you say, like a matador to trading with BB in the last 5 rounds. His best performance, even more so than Valdez 2. These versions of Monzon would have always been able to beat the best Toney IMO.

I recently watched the fight with Benvenuti on dvd. Excellent stuff. Shame the footage on youtube is so poor.

It would be a great fight as he is'nt putting Toney out.:good

Toney certainly had his moments, but I don't see him being able to solve Monzon. Close but no cigar.

This 1 was done quite recently

Would be a close fight similar to the Toney-McCallum fights but you've goto expect Toney to take Monzon's jab away and make him miss allot

I think Toney's pressure he often used is underrated in this type of match, he would slips jabs and make an opponent pay

He certainly has a superior skill level to Monzon

Toney's skill level, especially his ability to slide under right hands, and counter would give Monzon plenty to think about...a close fight with Monzon maintaining his distance with the jab, and attacking the body at long range...would see him to a decision win.
