Depends on the type of shape Toney comes in at. If Toney comes in the type of shape he was in against Jirov at cruiserweight, as much as i like Max, Toney is too skilled. It was so hard to nail him with the straight right - Max's best punch. Toney himself had an excellent counter right and a good left hook and he was so accurate- he could land with will on virtually anyone. The heavyweight Toney was overweight and would likely gas out and lose a decision to Max. But cruiserweight version wins. There are levels to this game. Max was a very very good boxer but Toney is one of the most skilled boxers (arguably top 15) of all time. He was unbelievably skilled, both defensively and offensively. The main way to beat him was to outspeed him aka RJJ but Max isn't the quick moving type. Toney by comfortable decision at cruiserweight, 9-3 or 10-2 with some competitive rounds. Way more defensively and offensively skilled IMO.
