You are beyond stupid to think that James is purely basing his training criteria on the sweet sciecne. James is a natural fighter and you pick up things easier with natural fighters instinct.....plus James is a student of the "FIGHT GAME" itself...not just boxing. He'll learn what is necessary to do well in MMA. And he'll graduall progress as an all around fighter. He's got a great start with his stand up and with some help and adjustments he'll be able to operate at a hight level in the UFC.
and it was'nt ufc 34 i was beating off to! it was cctv footage of your mother laying back and willingly taking it off an arab! *high five*
and u are beyond stupid to think that an obese 40 year old will develop into a complete mma fighter! he's hardly mr dedication these days! honestly u people crack me up,james give butterbean a call, let the grandmaster show u how is really done! what a total dip**** just ****off with this dry humping delusional james toney nuthuggery u pleb!
James stand up means nothing in MMA. When are people going to get this? Posters talk about learning sub and take down defense like its a matter of course. Toney is a BOXER. He KNOWS this but for one reason or another hard headed Toney wants to ply his trade in a sport he knows NOTHING about. He's going to get his head smashed in and smashed in bad. All the posters that actually think he has a punchers chance are completely dilusional. Toney has NEVER been a puncher at heavy much less for the lower weights. He has 3 hopes in the UFC slim none and Bob.
He doens't need to become a complete fighter and be an expert in all areas. He needs to learn enough to allow him to compete and highlight his natural attributes as a fighter. There's no doubt going to be a learning curve in which I'm sure he'll take in stride. The dedication part of your arguement is valid....but I hope this has breathed some new life into his fight career. If Mercer can KO Silva, James can grab a few good wins in the UFC. And really bro....don't let things like this take you to a stressed emotional state. It's really not that serious. You are talking about people "humping" and "nuthugging"....but you are coming off as what you are trying to clown people for.
You could be right! But you also could be wrong. I'm sure you thought Mercer was going to get smashed by Silva...and yea...the figth ended far too quickly to really assess just how good Ray is in MMA, but Toney has a far better shot at doing well in the UFC than Ray. I think you all are really underestimating Toney's dedication to proving he can compete in any fighting sport and he's set out to do what is necessary to prove people wrong. Sit back....Relax and lets see how this plays out. NOTHING is guranteed in the fight game....boxing or MMA. So you could very well think James is going to get smashed but after his first fight you just might see a Toney that impresses. Give a legend a chance!:good
The Silva Mercer fight meant absolutely sweet FA. One thing we know is Tim is a slow as molasses. Under Marquis of Queensbury a 90 year old Mercer would still tear him a new one. The fact he landed an overhand right on Tim is completely inconclusive and far too much has been made of it. That said Mercer is/was a solid heavy. Toney is not. All this underestimate nonsense is just crap. Toney is not an aggresive fighter like Mercer was. He's a defensive genius who likes to juke and feint in the cup, BUT will allow other fighters to dictate the pace at his expense because of his style. In MMA he has NO CHANCE and you can qoute me on that. He's not a heavy. He doesnt have heavyweight power. He doesnt have the skills to trouble ANY of the top heavies in the UFC. And he's an OLD man. I stand by what i say. Toney is on a hiding to nothing point blank point simple.
With 4 oz gloves and with good accuracy and timing you don't need to be a George Forman to knock a guy down or even out cold. James will be able to do more damage with the kinds of gloves that MMA fighters use. His accuracy and timing have always been amazing. Toney doesn't need to be agreesive...he needs to capitolize on miskes his opponents make and counter. James will be agressive when the time calls for it but with James you don't need to reinvent the wheel...just give him the tools to add to his natrual fighters instinct in order to be successful in MMA. And Again.....you could very well be right. But i respectfully disagree and I'm eager to see the first Fight for james in the UFC to see how he does and where improvements will be needed to further progress as his MMA unfolds.
I think it's a joke that the UFC have signed him in the first place. It would be even worse if they even think of putting Toney in with Lesnar. Brock would make short work of him. Like some people have already said, the fact that he is a boxer doesn't mean he will dominate every one standing. There is far more to striking than just punching. TBH I think Toney will struggle to pull off a couple of wins against lowly oppostion at this stage.
who am i dry humping and nuthugging? and how has one been able to evaluate one's emotional state simply through reading a post i wrote sigmund? im as calm as a hindu cow sweet cheeks! i think you are underestimating mma and overestimating james mctoneys sporting prowess! now this is esb dear your philosophy should be 'when in rome'...
James is going to get humiliated and probably badly hurt. This is the worst idea I've EVER heard. He doesn't even possess what could be called "stand-up" because he can't kick and he can't defend against kicks, and he doesn't have the mobility to get himself into positions to use his boxing skills. He's going to get launched onto the mat in the first few seconds then horribly, horribly beaten. Dana White is going to really regret allowing this freakshow to happen, because it will reflect very badly on him and the UFC, it's going to be awful, shameful viewing. The UFC and its fans deserve better than this, it makes a mockery of their sport, which I did very much like and admire before this garbage came to light.
Thats exactly how I see it. Toney with 4 oz gloves would knock 99% of them out cold if landed on them solidly. I have to laugh, when I see alot of these UFC guys get rocked with punches that resemble a Zelenoff left hook. When it comes to chins, most of the UFC guy's are made of glass.
go **** yourself with a shard of glass u fat worshipping dip ****! toneys going down to china town baby, coutures gunna love him 'long time'! now come out of the closet u hermaphrodite the klitchskos want to make sweet music with u!
They should put Toney in with an average striker and see how he goes. Someone like Jardine who has grappling and some leg kicks. If he handles him then step him up.
How old are you? 10 or 11 is my guess. I'm far from fat, at least your mom didn't think so when I ****ed her from the back and made her take my load like a washing machine. UFC fighters have no chins, they can't take a punch for ****. Even though Toney is far from prime, one punch from him with 4 oz gloves on would put Brock and Couture to sleep.
