I don't even particuly rate Lesnar.....

But cannot see how Toney would beat him in MMA.

    Total mis-match!

Even striking in MMA requires a different stance from Boxing. The first 10 seconds James Toney gets in the ring with his Boxing stance, his front leg is going to get destroyed with a kick, and that's it for him.

I am more of a boxing fan than a MMA fan but I can see what difficulties an pro boxer may have with certain MMA fighters.I think it all comes down to their MMA opponents and what skills they have aside from boxing.

If a boxer was to fight someone like Chuck Lidell then Chuck would have little chance to win although Chuck handles himself well versus other MMA fighters. Chuck strength is his heavy hands in stand up plus his great takedown defense, but versus a boxer, half his skillset is rendered useless and he cannot dominate a pro boxer in a stand up game.

If a boxer was to fight a submission specialist or simply someone with a great ground game with good takedowns then he would have a difficult time. There is a much better chance for someone to close in than for someone to get KO'd in a single attempt. And from there it would come down to grappling skills which boxers doesn't have much experience in. You can try to counter all you want but you won't get many chances when someone simply decide to grapple with you unless you have great takedown defense.

Toney would be pretty good. He's a natural fighter.

The only asset any top 205 or HW fighter in the UFC needs to win is a brain. Even those that use their striking primarily (IE: Chuck, Belfort, Rampage) would dominate Toney in an MMA fight if they fought smart.

The only way the MMA fighter loses is if his pride makes him think it's a boxing match, or if Toney lands a huge very early KO on the first or second punch. Toney isn't exactly known for coming in and ending fights with his first punch in boxing, so this isn't likely.

I agree. But that wasn't really the point was it? Nor was it what was being argued.

Farmy's mindless anti Haye posts are based on nothing but pure hatrid for the guy.
