The Jirov fight proves it.. Jirov fought very similar to Calzaghe in many ways.. southpaw stance, high workrate, often threw the slapping punches that Calzaghe is also known for - only differences are is that Calzaghe had a higher work rate, and less pop in his punches(although young Calzaghe could crack quite a bit himself) I think this fight would have been very interesting.

toney??? I would refer you to my first post mate.

just going on the great JC's own words, not mine.

He would definitely outgass a fortysomething toney at LH, mind you, I can give you that as a dead certainty, going on directly what he did in real life.

Great post! I see what you're talking about.

One thing that different.. Joe's blazing hand speed.
That's what wins it for him.

Jirov was slow. He also had 2 left feet.

Joe had some of the best footwork in the game:deal

dont compare a cruiserweight clash with a super middleweight fight
that doesnt prove anything except what a bad ass toney was for moving from middleweight champion to legit cruiserweight champion.

as with losing the first half of the fight to both Kessler and old Hopkins as well as drawing with Reid, his three toughest opps.

made it very easy yes. ummno.

yeah I mean robin reid. not robin hood.

its true that toney would have struggled with joes fitness, but not his skill. it would be a tough fight for jt, joe's fitness and volume plus decent chin make him a handful that wont go down easily, but hes going to land 70% and Joe even with two times more punches will only land 10-20% with no damage delivered. its not enough, and only becomes enough if toneys old enough that his workrate drops halfway through the fight.

Calzagje has the style to beat Mayweather and Toney. He really has the perfect style to beat Mayweather.

Percentages don't matter, if you land more you land more, doesn't matter how much more you threw.

that's exactly my point, Calzaghe land only 10-20 % on ultra defensive toney but toney land 75-80% on Joe.

Evne at double or triple volume, Joe cannot match toney.
