What you haven't mentioned is Williams was a ranked lightheavy and former champ and Thornton and Littles were top 10 ranked at 168 by The Ring, not some ABC org looking to just collect a sanctioning fee. You also overlook the fact these 10 fights happened in just over a years period Making Toney a much more active champion than Joe. And lets not forget (I may be mistaken here though) in Toney's short time at 168 he fought as many Ring ranked 168 fighter as Calzaghe.

I agree, mate. Eubank wanted nothing to do with Toney, either. As entertaining as those fights with Watson, Benn and Eubank were, their true level was shown when McCallum hammered Watson; the same Watson who beat Benn and gave Eubank hell.

Stunning counter punching. The man had a concrete slab for a chin too.

Toney squeaked life and death split decisions with Sosa, Tiberi, and Johnson, drew with sanderline Williams and lost to thadzi and griffin twice despite being juiced outta of his eyeballs and you imbeciles think he could beat the great Joe Calzaghe :nut :lol::lol::rofl:patsch:deal

Toney fans are ridiculous... MW/SMW Toney is one of the most overrated fighters of the last 20-30 years...

Not Toney fans, boxing fans. And if Toney is overrated having beaten better fighters throughout his career than what does that make Zags? You guys post a lot of bull****, but none of it contains anything of substance.

I actually find Calzaghe to be quite underrated(im American btw) and Yes I don't think his resume does him justice, but he proved his worth in the latter part of his career. Calzaghe is only overrated over in the UK, he hardly gets any credit here in the states.

So you say he proved his worth in the latter part of his career? Toney proved his worth throughout his entire career. Sure he had set backs and lost some fights he shouldn't of. But he fought better comp, beat better comp and more often. Joe was a good fighter. His slapping style sucked to watch, but it was undoubtedly effective. In truth though he only has two very good wins. One against old man Hopkins (who was still a great fighter) but who I think would have beaten him 4 years earlier, and the other against Kessler. Other than that he fought a few ok guys and a bunch of ABC stiffs.

Point is I think his style presents a lot of problems for Toney... Also Calzaghe accomplished all that he did without the use of PEDS, Toneys legacy will always be in question due to his failed drug tests.

Most fighters in the sport of the last 15 years have PROBABLY used PED's. And yes that's a mark against Toney career as a whole. But I doubt he was using them in the early to mid 90's timeframe of the Toney we're talking about here. That Toney was just a naturally gifted fighter, the kind that doesn't come around very often. Later in his career I believe he juiced match up better with heavyweight, though he gave the BS excuse of injuries. That's what every fighter who gets caught says.

Style wise it's Zaga who would be in trouble. Joe struggled with a defensives sound and counter punching Hopkins. He stands little chance against an even better defensive fighter and harder puncher of the best version of Toney.
