If he says hes going to knock me out, God bless him, Toney said in responding to Rahmans prediction. The last time we fought he had his track shoes on for 12 rounds. This time I am coming in shape. People will doubt what I just said, and probably for good reason, so Ill let them see for themselves. Ive learned my lessons, although probably later than I should have, but I can tell you Im ready to prove it. I wont leave it to the judges this time. Im going to do everything to knock HIM out. That sounds very un-Toney. Learnt his lesson? Doubting me with good reason?
Toney is down in weight..Better belive it! I have heard he is down to 330 pounds and very dangerous at the buffet table... Hasim better watch out!
call me crazy, but I believe it. Toney says about the same things he always does, but this time I think it's true. Hasim better run like hell or he'll get his ass whoopped
I don't know what this fixation on knocking out heavyweights is with Toney, not only does he not have much of a punch at this level but it makes it sounds like he has little confidence in winning a decision. Rahman didn't run in their first fight, most of it was spent swapping shots at close-quarters by the ropes generally.
before i make my prediction id want to see the weigh in. if say rahman came in overweight at like 260 lbs and toney looked good at 225 then i would go for toney to outbox him. if toney is big and rahman could get himself down to anything like 235 then i think rahman might have a chance of winning by stoppage. its all at the weigh in. both of them out of shape then i go with toney both in shape then i go with a SD either way.
Toney could knock out Rahman. Rahman's chin was shaky in his "prime" - now he's got guys like Taurus Sykes rocking him!! :nod
It does seem as if Toney has said something meaningful and attention getting about his conidtioning, or lack, thereof. Maybe he is going to get himself in shape, this time. I hope. But no, Rahman didn't run last time, and Toney won't knock him out. He may (if he comes in condition) box his ears off, but he is not a hard, or even, average, puncher, but still loves to say he is going to KO everyone, in order to hype himself. But I do hope he means it this time about his weight and conditioning. It'd be great to see him come in about 215, or even 225.
I agree Zak. Toney does have the necessary punch to knock Rahman out. It's just a matter of whether or not he'll be close to where he was for the Holyfield fight. IMO that Toney knocks Rahman out.
Anyone else worried that in light of his more recent drug issues an in-shape James Toney may fail a **** test? I'm glad they're being reasonable with this fight (it's on ESPN right?) and not trying to milk it for a quick PPV buck. Let the winner move on and the loser fade into Bolivian.
I effing love James Toney. I hope to hell he's in good shape, and stays in good shape. Afetr he gets rid of Rahman, he can go through and clean out a little garbage.
