Against Booker, Toney was obviously on steriods, as he probably is most every fight, but he was lean and very muscular. He had a very impressive, muscular and lean physique. He was developed, but I didn't see any improvement in his power, as he pounded on Booker at will, and only managed putting Booker on his knee, at one point in the 10 rounds of pounding on him. I don't guess even a developed and bulked up Toney has any power to speak of. LOL

But they say a muscular physique is no indicator of punching power, but I think it is, in most cases.

I'd like to see Toney finally get in that kind of shape, or even slimmer, after so many fights of him in terrible condition.

I remember that fight, it was Fox Sports maybe 5 or 6 years ago. Booker was undefeated at the time and highly ranked, last I heard he was in jail.

It was on Fox Sports, yes. I think Booker was undefeated, but had the out of shape, gobby fat physique, and showed skills to match his physique.

I recall after the fight, he said of Toney, something like I could get all juiced up and look like that, too.

Seems now, though, that Toney is now on the Rydell Booker diet plan, too.

Yeah, if my memory is correct, I think Toney even looked to the ref to stop the fight a couple times, Booker took one hell of a beating. I might be wrong, but wasnt that Toney's first fight at Heavyweight?

Yes, and I think it was also Bookers first fight at heavy, too, up from Cruiser, I believe. But don't quote me on that.

Fair enough, Toney was a very good fighter at that time, soon after the Booker fight, Toney went on to rip up Evander Holyfield. I just wonder if the roids hurt him, rather than helped him?

That was what I thought, as well.

Now that you bring that up, I didn't think it sounded correct that Booker was TOney's first heavy fight.

I'm pretty sure Toney's first Heavyweight fight was in 02 after his fight of the year with Jirov, not sure who his first oppenent was off hand.

Toneys first fight at HW was in 2001 against Wesley Martin. After that he fought at cruiserweight again for a couple fights, won the IBF belt against Jirov there, then he beat Holyfield at HW. After that he was to fight Jameel McCline, but he got injured so that fight didn't materialize. He fought Rydell Booker then.

BTW, what exactly makes you say that Toney was on steroids for the Booker fight - he looked in very good shape, yes, but that is not proof enough. Toney is an athlete and looked good in many fights before that. You don't necesserily have to take roids to look good. He only took nandrolone for the Ruiz and Batchelder fights, that's it until proven otherwise. Everything else is speculation.

I have been a supporter of Toney for awhile now, and have always thought Toney took the form of steroids to help his shoulder repair more quickly, what are your thoughts on Toney regarding the steroids issue?
