You could tell he'd been waiting and building up arm strength to prepare for that big burst. He was going for the stoppage, no question about it.

His inability to get the stoppage on such a burst bodes poorly for him, though.

 

Round 8

The power of Cloud reemerges after a bit of jockeying for position, set off by a right hand and leading to some piston-like combos from Cloud as Johnson covers up and moves backward. Johnson is not badly hurt, and keeps pressing forward which leads to clinches between the tiring fighters. Cloud pushes out a jab and Johnson counters with a 1-2 but they both miss and fall into a clinch with Cloud's back to the ropes. Johnson punches with a free hand but isn't landing cleanly. Cloud gets some separation and sends an overhand right thudding into the side of Johnsons' skull, followed by a few more power punches.

Again, even through 8. Back and forth we go.

 

Cloud's trainer aint telling him a damn thing.

 

Cloud evened the fight up with that burst. We'll see whether he's arm-weary in this round.

 

If this fight continues this way poor Johnson will not catch a break with the judges. Close fights never seem to go his way.

 

Why is Cloud showboating against an aged veteran when he isn't even winning?

 

That's what I'm afraid of. He needs a flash knockdown if he wants to win this. Needs some surefire points.

 

Johnson has no power. He is feather fisted.

 

Johnson needs to do something dramatic. Glen doesn't win close fights.

 

I agree. Cloud seems to fight in spurts.

 

The absolute best thing Johnson can keep doing is just keep pumping that jab for the remainder of the fight if he can. Fight through the arm burn and just keep it out there. Cloud can't seem to get punches off with a jab (even a lazy one) in his face.
