i rewatched the fight, safe win for adamek, didn't risk and won it safety but i'm curious what will happen against arreola... i predict ko
Adamek is taking too many punches. Its one thing to take a punch from a guy not known as a big puncher but against the bigger punchers I wonder how far his chin will take him? I also don't see the workrate he had at cruiserweight.
Let me just say first I am Polish, and a fan of Adamek, however I'm not blinded by nationalism and do not believe Adamek is the next Klitchko. After the Estrada fight I believe Adamek will have serious trouble w/ Arreola if he fights him in April. I think Adamek needs another "buffer" fight before facing Arreola, maybe someone like Ray Austin, or Fres Oquendo, etc. I don't really see the fight vs. Golota as his actual first HW fight, I think the fight vs. Estrada was the the real first one, and I was impressed w/ the speed he was able to maintain, even though his stamina did decrease a bit. You have to keep in mind the few clean head shots Adamek took from Estrada were coming from a guy w/ only 3 KO's and not known for punching power. I think Arreola will come at TA in a similar fashion as he did w/ Minto, just come in hard, strong, and hope for an early KO. In fact I think that's what he will train for, so if TA can take him into the 6 rounds+, it will get more interesting and give Adamek a good shot at winning, and just out-lasting Arreola.
No one ever said this, not even his most ardent fans. But, people are writing Adamek off because he failed to KO or dominate Estrada. There are many reasons why this expectation was unrealistic. I agree Adamek could be well served by facing a lower contender but at this point a) he'd be accused of wimping out of the Arreola fight b) risk losing momentum and the attention of others, making it difficult to get a title shot, should he deserve it. Best thing to do is to prep for a war with Arreola and hope your chin is better than his. If that is taken care of, Adamek's superior skills should do the rest. Adamek should stick and move early on to avoid Arreola's bombs and get him fatigued. People say Tomasz looked slow at his new weight. I'm not sure that's entirely true. TA actually was pretty mobile and tried to be out of Estrada's range. Estrada even kept yackin after the fight that Adamek ran the whole fight. If he's overpowered by Arreola he can try fighting the smaller HWs and see how that goes.
Adamek will build more muscle and stamina and remain amongst the heavyweights for now. If he should lose to Arreola then we can talk about going back to CW.
Hypocrisy. You've spent this whole thread trying to make Jason Estrada look much better than what he actually is: a feather fisted fatty with a decent hand speed & solid defence/chin. Who has Estrada fought to suggest he has an 'iron' chin? You frequently mention that Adamek performed better against Estrada than Povetkin, and mention that Estrada took the fight against Povetkin on short notice. And yet you fail to mention that Povetkin fought Estrada having spent nine months out with an injury & was naturally a tad ring rusty. It's threads like this which encourage unmerited criticism as discussed in the 'Adamek gets bashed here too much' thread, due to the impartiality of the op.
Weren't you trying to downplay Eddie Chambers victories over Peter & Dimitrenko on the basis that both victories were by way of majority decision? http://www.eastsideboxing.com/forum/showthread.php?t=204583 Didn't Adamek beat Briggs twice, both being by way of majority decision? Oops.
