There was some kid on Spencer Fearons facebook last night saying " well Benn took ecstacy so why not Steroids?"

I personally dont think Benn was on the gear , but from his comments wouldnt be suprised if he's used it since, as he was saying I didnt use steroids during boxing or something.

There talking about the doc on talksport now

Benn was hypnotized for that fight, like Collins was for the Eubank fight now whether that stuff works i dunno but Benn had to win, Benn had to prove alot to himself that night being stopped by Eubank in first fight and Watson.

IMO the adrenaline and sheer drive to win was what got him through that night, Benn for every defeat got stronger and wanted to improve.

I remember Maloney calling Steward a mercenary ***** on the Boxing Hour back in the Setanta days and Bunce agreed. I also remember Frank calling somebody a twat on it too.

Moorer left Steward and made bad choices.

McClellan left Steward and made bad choices.

Hearns left Steward, got done dirty by a crook named Harold Smith and ended up begging to go back to Manny.

    Just saying...

Manny's class, yep he's a ***** for a dollar bill, but least your paying for one of best in business. Gerald's team that night was shocking i mean that Johnson was a ****ing nobody before the fight, and a nobody after.

His corner work was awful, War Baby details him quite well. You've got to wonder if he knew he was injured and the fact Gerald punched his hat and teeth down mouth whether he allowed it to go on for his own personal reasons. Just a thought...

A decent-ish documentary but like a lot of you I was surprised that they didn't go into more depth of it being fairly likely that it was a matter of when and not if something like that was going to happen to McClellan providing that he carried on fighting if it hadn't happened in the Benn fight, not too surprised that they didn't mention the possibility of the McClellan family's decision to fly him back to America early contributing to the state he finds himself in today.

I think that maybe have been the case, It was his chance in the spotlight, His chance to shine and ended up neglecting his fighter, any which way I try to look at things and weigh everything up, I always come back to this?

Does anyone know if it was ever proven that McClellan didn't want to go out for the 7th(?) round?

Exactly Bill, Just makes me wonder, no remorse in the man's interview last night not a bar of it.
Don't think so, Kevin Mitchell's adamant and he did leave stool pretty lazily as if there may of been some issues.

I'd take Mitchell's word over Johnson's every time, having said that I don't think there was anything malicious from Johnson on fight night, just a combination of arrogance and breathtaking incompetence, which we all knew about anyway but I was pretty surprised to realise just what little regard McClellan actually had for him, especially when he told Sanders that the reason he was wrapping his own hands was because "these idiots don't know what they're doing."

Did anyone else think that there were signs of potential problems in the footage of him training for the fight? Just a couple of facial gestures he pulled seemed that of someone who had developed a severe headache in my opinion. :think

Good post :good, Yep i couldn't believe the footage when he said 'another **** training session like yesterday, all that moving around is cos your thinking of next shots to throw cos you don't know them' something like that but as he said this he was blinking like he was in fight. Problems were already there IMO.

:deal i couldnt believe hed said this in front of cameras, like you say, the blinking didnt start with a clash of heads, and when your fighter isn't keeping his mouthguard in you really have to be asking yourself a few questions, did johnson ever say anything like "you feeling ok? you hurt?" etc, because last night it looked like he was straight down to focussing on what mcclellan should be doing or "benn cant win now look at him" etc, when face to face he shouldve realised smoething was up.

at first i thought id find it difficult to feel much sympathy for him with the kind of person he was, but to see him in that state really got to me, no-one should live like that, and when he was chatting to that kid at the fundraiser it really showed a human side so i'd like to think he wasnt all bad

Totally agree, Johnson never asked a thing IMO because he was scared to, only cared about winning and couldn't detect problems he was just a towel swinger who was watching fight from corner when another night and fighter he'd of been watching from seats or tv.
