People get nervous tics and blink in much the same way McClellan was. Do they all have brain damage?

Maybe, instead of doing CAT scans, doctors can just watch the patient blinking and make an assessment based on that.

I am, dude - He didn't know he was in serious danger because he was pretty messed up from his injuries. So he did quit because he couldn't function any more.

It was a completely rational response to his body shutting down, but it was quitting. I don't say that as a slur - it's just what he did. If he hadn't he'd probably be dead.

 

We just messin. He knows what I mean, Scott. I mean.......Gerrie.

 

The problem is a definition of terms.

Quitting in boxing is a word we apply our own meaning to, and brings different connotations.

No i didnt. You claim that blinking has nothing to do with brain injuries. I presented the example of a Dr explaining to me the point. You came back with 'what about eyelashes', 'what about a ****ing piece of dirt in your eye', and your most impressive assertion yet that, 'I just blinked, does that mean I have brain damage'...

If I take a heavy bang to the head, and start blinking heavily as a result of it, I wont take the advise of a Dr who rehabs car accident victims but some ****ing sad act wanabe boxing writer who sits in hotel rooms all his life, feeling fantastic because he likes to belittle people on a internet forum.

I accept that it's a case of interpretation.

My interpretation of quitting is that it's a rational choice made when you could feasibly continue.

I don't think he had a choice.

But then in away I guess he did quit...

Just seems very harsh to me given what he fought through to get to that point.

Nah, you’re just being a mong. At no point did I ever say that people with brain injuries don’t blink. My point (which you keep missing, possibly because you’re blinking) is pretty simple: blinking ON ITS OWN is no grounds for diagnosis.

McClellan’s blinking told us nothing more than he’d been punched a few times. We even saw him blinking when he was on the pads. Looked like the same sort of blinking. No one was saying “brain damage” then, were they?

If you get a broken nose, you will blink as your eyes water and your sinuses go into meltdown. You get an eyelash in your eye, you will BLINK! Blinking is just a reaction. It tells you **** all about what’s wrong with someone.

Maybe there’s some sort of “special” blink that only those with brain damage get but, since blinking is a symptom of any number of ailments, I have my doubts. It could be brain damage. It could be hayfever. It could be ****ed up sinuses (like I get sometimes and then I blink like a mother-****er). It could be a nervous tic. None of which you have disproved, instead you just keep saying the same stupid thing: “But I spoke to a doctor!”

In fact, from a cursory read round of a few medical papers (the benefits of being a PAID WRITER – I’ll come back to that in a minute), there is no direct link between blinking and brain damage. In fact, NOT blinking can be a symptom of brain damage as well.

Some reports say, as you do, that those with brain damage blink more. Other reports note that those with brain damage may not blink at all. The only reasonable argument you could make would be at the onset of brain damage. But since there’s no ethical way to test this, I have the feeling your argument is going to come up short.

The only sure-fire way to assess brain damage is with a brain scan and follow-up assessment. End of ****ing discussion.

And get to **** with the rest of your cry-baby post. I’m not a “wannabe boxing writer” because I don’t write about boxing. I did very briefly as part of a sadly failed experiment (RIP The Boxing Site) but I make my living as a professional writer in plenty of other fields.
