Floyd would beat Canelo handily and I think this fight happens.

    No they didn't.

However, the Cotto fight was a decent challenge for Floyd and he met it.

Yes, they did. People on this site were calling Alvarez/Mayweather a cherrypick if Floyd fought him last May. Everyone rated Cotto over Alvarez.

They probably rated him as a better fighter, but seeing as though 154 was never his ideal weightclass, no one rated him over Alvarez in that division. No matter what the supposed rankings say, Cotto was never the number one guy of LMW. And that was confirmed -- against Trout -- the very fight after Mayweather beat him.

It appears as though some of the Mayweather fans here are cherry picking when and how someone is the "best" at 154 and whether Mayweather should be fighting him or not. If he's nothing more than a past prime blown-up WW (Cotto), it's ok for Mayweather to step up to him and claim the tag of being number one LMW. But if he's much younger and is a fully-fledged LMW that's just concretely proved he's the best at the weight (Alvarez), then Mayweather goes back to being just a WW who's too small to be asked to go up.

The problem at 147 lbs is that there is'nt any natural great Welters in the division.
Marquez is certainly not a true welter and he is likely the best in that division outside of Mayweather.

The more competitive matchups for Mayweather are a divsion below at 140 lbs or a division above at 154 lbs.

Mayweather has shown a willingness to cherrypick at 154 lbs, but I guess he does'nt consider Canelo a pushover as he wantes no part of him.

140 lbs would seem out of the question when Mayweather refused to even attempt to lose two lousy pounds when the contract said he fight at 144 lbs vs Marquez.

Mayweather is a cherry picker, he'll eventually move up when someone comes along at 147 lbs he considers to tough a test and a real challenge for him.

Unfortunately for us boxing fans, Mayweather is a better judge of talent than you are. He knows that Canelo did a good job of keeping calm and deciphering Trout's southpaw stance. He stayed patient and within himself boxed well against a very tricky southpaw.

If anything, Canelo's performance last night discourages Mayweather from wanting to face him. Now Mayweather knows that Canelo is both physically and mentally tough! :deal

To bad for us boxing fans, we have to sit through watching Mayweather fight the Guerrero's, Rios, and Alvarado's go up to welter to take him on. :-((

No, they ****in' weren't, boy !

You need to learn what the word EVERYONE means.

A few ******-****ers doesn't constitute EVERYONE.

You'll always have the idiots , the haters and the huggers, but they're not EVERYONE.

They will continue to nitpick and find something to complain about.

Alvarez is a top contender for Floyd and honestly the better fighter at this point in my opinion.

Mayweather wouldn't raise a sweat in beating Canelo, what are people thinking here? Trout deserves a rematch, some of that scoring was total bull****.
