Boxnation's first Box Academy show is tonight and as stated on the website it is an initiative to showcase some of the emerging talent.
    http://www.boxnation.com/boxing-matches/boxacademy-manchester/

Also, there is apparently a cash prize for the best fight on the card.

Now, this is a decent idea but the problem is that these prospects (Johnson, Flanagan et al all good fighters) are all fighting in totally one-sided fights. It is an awful card, there isnt one fight on there that I am looking forward to seeing. Good boxing cards is about watching good fights.

Sky would not allow this shite; one thing they have done in past 18 months is improve their domestic cards. However, the domestic cards on Boxnation this year has been their weak link and this kick off show for the Box Academy brand is a stinker.

    Full card here:

I would rather a crap boxing card on telly than nothing at all though.

The fights could be a bit more competitive, although the point of the show is to give the prospects more experience.

I know the cancellations have been unfortunate but if any of these thing happens I will be shocked.

    • There's a good fight
    • Any of the undefeated guys lose
    • There are any knockouts

I thought the plan was to have prospects fighting prospects, a la ShoBox in the States?

I like the idea of a fight of a night bonus though. Seems to work in the UFC.

They have been unlucky with pullouts, but they should of waited untill they could get the type of fight originaly planned. This is a poor start to a new brand.

Was pretty poor but what do you expect really first sign of trouble.

Quite like the look of Johnson there stuff to work on really but certainly has potential.
