John O'Donnell (ESB ranked 3rd) is up against the underdog Tom Glover (ESB ranked 6th), who keeps surprising everyone with winning in fights were he was supposed to be a stepping stone. Will it happen again, or will O'Donnell break Glover's run? Undercard involves Lee Purdy vs Peter McDonagh, and if either can win impressively tonight, they could get into the Welterweight rankings. There is a bit of history between these two as the journeyman McDonagh is the only man to have defeated Purdy so far, and Purdy will want to get his revenge. Undfeated O'Meara is up against the journeyman McCauley. This fight won't have any impact on the light-middle rankings, but it will be a good chance to see O'Meara and see if he has the ability to mix it with the top domestic operators in the division. Finally, Yassine El Maachi who is on a good run, faces a pretty poor opponent in Drew Campbell, who will be looking for his first win in 9 fights, although he should take El Maachi the distance as he has only been stopped twice in ten fights. Hope this gets you a bit more interested in a pretty poor card although the first two fights mentioned should be good :good
Yep I am watching this one tonight. I was reading in Boxing News today that many at ringside felt that Watson beat O'Donnell is their previous fight, I didnt see this fight myself......
my girlfriend wants to watch x factor at 7.30 so i'm gonna miss first hour, scandalous isn't itatsch oh well......i see steve o'mera on the undercard of cleverly mcintosh. he was fighting lee noble who looked tidy and sturdy, i felt watching that o'mera looked like he was struggling to get his punches off, and that noble could have won had he stepped it up abit(he looked by far the stronger). think o'mera said after that it was an off night for him. good to see what he does tonight, i read hes been in the states with degale and he sparred mayweather. hopefully if x factor finished in time i'll see him!
I thought Watson did beat O'Donnell to be honest, I had it 7-5 for him. It's a moot point though, Watson is quite a lot superior to Tom Glover. Glover has a lot of heart and grit, but he's basically very one dimensional and predictable, straight up and down slugger. Should be made for the lanky and skilled O'Donnell to outbox him comfortably.
Purely for research purposes I had a little look the sponsor of tonights bill http://www.boxinggirlz.com/photos/ Aren't they the roundcard girls from the Kensington Choi bill? 'My friend' just told me he recognises some of them from one of the late night Sky channels too
Nothing worse than **** ten rounders. Imagine a casual fan sittig through more than 20 seconds of this.
Yes, he asked some good questions there about Floyd. Andy's a likeable chap so people let their guard down with him.
