How can you comment if you gave it less than 34% of your attention?

I admit it didn't have Hatton getting KOed big style but it was none the less a good boxing show.

I guess northerners may not appreciate it but all 3 fights were enjoyable as it featured southern fighters.

Because there were some good fighters and the original poster (and you) did not appreciate them :patsch

Because I said it was a pretty poor card?

Are you telling me that was a nicely balanced card with even fights? I enjoyed watching it, but none of the fights were competitive which = a pretty poor card.

This is a pointless discussion. If it were3 fighters you were a fanboy of you would not be having this discussion. As it wasn't you can only appreciate a fight under certain circumstances.

The Purdy fight was close. 6 rounder. He lost the first two rounds. This meant he had to win every round to win the fight. Going into the final round it could have been a draw or a win to Purdy. Was this not close/competitive???

Although the official score for the O'Meara fight was a shutout, the commentators and people I spoke to thought the fight was a lot closer with O'Meara starting slowly and therefore dropping a few early rounds.

People like me who are local to the area Glover comes from also appreciated the effort he put up. I'd actually argue with a boxing expert (not you) that he did well early on. A few low blows and a little sloppy defense and he gets a broken nose. Obviously he was outclassed, this is what happens to a journeyman on a role, they ultimately meet a good fighter and get whopped. None the less, it was an entertaining fight and a neutral was willing on the underdog.

How did you see the 3 fights? If it was that crap why did you continue watching?

I liked Glovers "You know" interview before the fight, rivalled Khan's "You know what I mean?" interview after the Limond fight.

    :think

Anyway, I like Glover, he is a bit one dimensional, but he shows a lot of heart and is a likeable fella, but lets be honest he wasn't in that fight tonight.

O'Meara fight was messy, not much action and yeah it was closer than what the ref scored it (60-54??), but it was a close, but clear victory.

The Purdy fight to me was not close, he was winning it and bossing the fight - it was entertaining, but I am not likely to watch a repeat of it anytime soon.

El Maachi was good tonight, liked his style, just threw punches from all angles and looked the goods domestically.

What fights were shown after O'Donnell vs Glover? I had to go and look after my little sister as soon as that fight ended.

El Maachi and that Kid Galahan (last round only) - you didn't miss too much, good finish from El Maachi in his fight though.

    UKFIGHTFAN -

I cannot qoute your comments and highlight the errors as my works computer is 'tied down' and has some filters on it so instead I shall highlight them below...

"I guess northerners may not appreciate it but all 3 fights were enjoyable as it featured southern fighters"

What on earth are you on about here ? Whats Northern/Southern divides got to do with this. You telling me that the southeners who came to watch this in support of Glover enjoyed it JUST BECAUSE 'their man' was in it ? Are you saying that Northern fighters can't appreciate a 10 rounder such as the McDonagh/Purdy ?

"I admit it didn't have Hatton getting KOed big style but it was none the less a good boxing show."

No it wasn't a good show. Simple as ! 2 x 1sided 4 rounders, a fairly competative 6 rounder, a fairly competative 10 rounder and a one sided 12 rounder that lasted 6 ????? If this was a Warren show people would be doing their nuts in now !

"The Purdy fight was close. 6 rounder"

Which was indeed a 10 rounder :huh

"The Purdy fight was close. 6 rounder. He lost the first two rounds"

No he did not he looked very very good in the first 2 rounds and totally dominated them. The ref gave him every round so even if you can't even say he lost them 'officially'. If you seriously think that he lost the first two rounds then I suggest that your username on this site maybe a joke or by 'fightfan' you actually mean MMA fan and have no concept of the sweet science !

"that he did well early on. A few low blows and a little sloppy defense and he gets a broken nose"

Erm he wasn't really doing that well was he ? He was landing a pitter patter jab when he switched stance that O'Donnel could literally afford to take flush in the face without bothering to move his head. The commentators were acting as if something big was landing but thats what they do to big the underdog up. In reality as soon as O'Donnell threw his first combo we all knew that this would not be lasting the distance.

"I'd actually argue with a boxing expert (not you)"

Not you either by the sounds of things ? If your comments are getting ripped apart on here i'd leave your arguments with the 'experts' pal :good

"People like me who are local to the area Glover comes from also appreciated the effort he put up"

You dont have to be local to appreciate the effort he put in. I'm sure everyone on this site who watched it was willing him on a little and fully respects the ammount of bravery he shown. But do you know what 'Heart' gets you in this game when your outclassed?............. HURT !

It wasn't a good bill overall, which to be fair is unusual for Hennesey*.

It must be tough though knowing the TV deal is out of the window in a few months. Why go out of your way to put corking fights on ITV when they are about to scarper? You would think the motivation for Hennesey is to build up some blockbusters which he can sell to a new TV partner.

    * but becoming a worrying trend based on the announced Froch-Direll undercard.

i thought it was a ok card, don't think anyone got outclassed, well apart from glover, well out of his depth, but he deserved his shot.
the score cards on the omera fight were a bit out,el macchi is going to be good on the domestic circuit.
kid galahad, well another ingle puppett, and a pretty bad one as well,

and lets not bring northern /southern shite into this, just becouse northerners are better at everything:hey
