I might get out of bed for it. Expecting a late stoppage for Bivol, a decision for the Hooker and an early stoppage for Johnson.
I'm quite looking forward to both those light heavyweight fights. Joe Smith is usually good entertainment value and will be a live underdog in that one I'm sure. Bivol has looked class at times. He's a brilliant boxer and his timing and accuracy are first class. That's when he's getting to fight at his own pace. In his last fight against Pascal you could say he was a bit one paced actually, and maybe a bit reluctant to up the gears and it was a slightly underwhelming victory by his own high standards he's set. I think Joe Smith should try and put the pressure on with a high output and try and make it a bit of a dog fight, make Bivol fight at a pace he's not comfortable with. If he has the engine to keep it up, he might make it interesting. Then again, if he uses they tactics, I could just as easily see Bivol timing him coming in and walking him onto a bomb and putting his lights out. I think it's going to be a good one anyway.
Madrimov is getting fasttracked fighting a hardhitter in his second pro fight. And Kuzmin fights sturdy Dawejko.
Quick demolition job from Callum Johnson. You could see how that fight was going to go from very early on. Johnson is very heavy handed and was ruthless when he went for the finish.
Comfortable win for Hooker. I've seen him look better than that but he was still a level or 2 above LesPierre who was a tough cookie and had some short moments of success but not really enough to cause Hooker any real problems. He done well to stay in there, he was hurt a couple of times and he looked finished after going down from that body-shot in the 9th round.
Haven't seen the fight yet but yes, he's been rather underwhelming so far in his pro career. He was in a battle with Amir Mansour until they clashed heads who has gone on to get badly beaten by Hrgovic and Ajagba and wasn't overly impressive against Price either. At this stage I can't see him making waves in the division.
Good fight between Bivol and Joe Smith. It went more or less as expected. Smith kept coming and showed his toughness but Bivol just had too much class in his boxing. Everything was brilliant. His jab, his footwork and his counters were a joy to watch. Only thing missing was the stoppage and he looked close to it a few times. That performance would've earned a stoppage against most fighters but that Joe Smith is one tough bstard. Landed a few good punches of his own too. The one at the end of the 10th had Bivol staggering back to his corner like a drunk. One of those fights where even though it was a bit one sided it was still a good fight. The disappointment for me was that fight going the distance lost me a bet. I had Callum Johnson early and Bivol late on a double. If the Bivol fight was 15 seconds longer it probably would've happened. I was up shouting at the telly when he finished the fight with that onslaught. Painfully close to a nice wee winner tonight!
